We’re gonna have to stop describing extreme weather as “once in a generation” because weather extremes are the new normal now Maybe once in a year or a decade for the really big ones. But not once in a generation… those days are over

@AliWines @PowderMatt I do, my entire company is remote. Most of my travel is out of Spokane (no complaints, very reliable) and I return into Castlegar (less reliable, but getting better). Have good high speed internet and a 5 minute walk to the Red Chair at Red.

What’s your favourite small, independent mountain town in Canada? (If a girl were dreaming of buying a patch of land to call her own and maybe have goats but also didn’t want to be bankrupt forever)? @PowderMatt I’m looking at you?

@AliWines @PowderMatt Zero regrets with the move to Rossland, except maybe that we should have done it in our 30’s instead of our 40’s!

@cjpberry The odds are not good enough for me to put any money on us doing better in a future pandemic. Can you imagine if COVID had been a zombie apocalypse? We could barely manage the common cold's meaner sibling.

I want to believe that we learned a lot from COVID, and when there is another pandemic, we will do better. What are the odds?

The problem is not people being uneducated. The problem is that people are educated just enough to believe what they have been taught, and not educated enough to question anything from what they have been taught. 🧠

It only took $44 billion dollars to turn Twitter into 4chan with user verification.

@andybudd @usabilitycounts Any designer that wants to do more strategy should read Porter’s Five Forces first and take a course on corporate investment decisions. Strategy does not mean vision quests and sizzle reels. Those are activities done after a strategy has been set.

Every designer wants to “do more strategy.” Few designers understand what “doing more strategy” actually entails. Even fewer have demonstrated any obvious aptitude for strategy. As such “do more strategy” really translates as “do less actual production work.”

Wrong: Quantitative data tells you WHAT. Qualitative data tells you WHY. Correct: Qualitative data tells you WHAT and WHY. Quantitative data tells you HOW BIG IS THIS PROBLEM?
