The worst thing about growing up in poverty is that it kills your confidence, takes away your agency and forces heavy reliance on “confirmation bias” You unknowingly remove yourself from topics and conversations that you have the right to partake in. Money becomes a taboo that is only discussed behind closed doors. You’re always preparing/anticipating failure in your attempts just so you can confirm that you’re not good enough. You treat your wins as dumb luck and partially bet on yourself just in case something wrong happens. The moment I started identifying these patterns and worked against them, a lot of things changed for the better. My investment journey will always be an extension of me that I wish to replicate in every other aspect of my life. Boldness, confidence, betting on myself and living without fear. These are not just numbers to me, but proof that I am more than where I come from. My best asset is my mind and for as long as I do not restrict it with past trauma, failures or baseless fears, I am yet to unlock so much with it. I am grateful that I made it this far and I pray for strength to reach a point when I’ll be able to offer much more to myself and loved ones 🤲🏾🍲🫱🏾‍🫲🏼
