@deanwball colocating solar with existing pasture can improve it for wildlife and livestock by making shade and reducing evaporation losses. solar farms can also become pleasant parks in hot climates, if designed with some creativity. we're very early in the solarpunk experiment

I have truly never understood how solar-maxis intend to deal with this reality; I expect there to be data centers 100 times this nameplate power draw in the nearish future. What you see below is 100mw. The response I usually get is "America has a lot of land," which is just bleak. Indeed, it turns *me* into a doomer, invoking as it does the notion of machines papering over our soil (which powers us) to power themselves. And it's not just data centers. In a world with electric freight trucks, a *truck stop* might require as much solar as you see pictured here, if not much more. A truck stop! Solar is fine; I do not have a principled opposition to it (which I do to eg wind). But solar's lack of energy density makes the solar-maximalist future a "loser premise," to borrow a phrase--at least it is a "loser premise" for human dignity. The good version of the future is of course a mix of many energy sources, but with a heavy bent toward fusion/fission and geothermal.
Andrew Côté@Andercot

This is the footprint ratio of data center to solar panels in the sunniest country in the world. Yeah, I think we're gonna have to go nuclear.

FSD 14.3.2 is much better with turn signals. 14.2.2.5 used to indicate so early that it would confuse traffic. In the last few days, I haven't seen 14.3.2 do that once. A solid improvement.

We have 3 teenagers now, 16/15/13. I cannot understand the idea that teenagers are any kind of problem. I love hanging out with them, and, surprisingly, the feeling is mutual. Every stage of parenthood has been delightful.

Global BEV Trend September 2030 currently seems like the point in time when BEV will overtake ICE (incl. HEV) globally. This is after the PHEV peak that right now seems like it will happen in 2028 at around 14%. #builder" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">leraffl.github.io/LeRaffl-Galler…

@willfleming @CockertonPaul unfortunately, v14 in the states exhibits the same bad behavior for me and others. it constantly slows down and speeds up on highways for no reason

@CockertonPaul - was on the roads today and FSD kept trying to pull back to 100km even though the speed limit was 110km. Was strange becuase later in the drive FSD would randomly speed up. Maybe v14 will sort it out…

We’re back on the kiwi roads to do a bit of FSD at 110km/h 👍 Only problem is that our “down under” version of FSD won’t stay at the speed limit. I thought Tesla had done a sneaky update but as it turns out…

If only it would maintain proper speed on the actual road I would be happy. I constantly have to babysit the speed, especially after the latest update. It's stupidly inconsistent and with the new pop up menu forcing me to choose a reason for disengagement, I'm choosing to drive myself.

Trail assist maintains a set cruising speed with minimum slip on rough or steep terrain, allowing you to focus on steering Enable via Controls > Dynamics > Off-Road Mode > Trail Assist, then activate or deactivate Trail Assist when needed by single-clicking the right scroll wheel button
Mike Haldas@haldas

Trail assist mode engaged to go down a steep section of Hell’s Revenge, Moab Utah. Super special Thank You 🙏🏼 to @kneubuehl for being the best Cybertruck off-roading guide and creating very special memories for many new friends ❤️

tesla really needs to figure out FSD v14 speed management on rural highways. HW4 friends keep telling me that they turn it off entirely for those trips. HW3 people fix it with the max speed setting. FSD should never be worse than autopilot

@leRaffl yeah, it astonishes me that any of this works at all. why does the universe work such matrix multiplication can produce intelligence

Isn't it weird that modern AI is just multiplication of vectors and matrices? Like, if you download an LLM with 7bn parameters worth 14 GB (at 16 bit), you're essentially just downloading matrices. Hundreds of them, with billions of numbers, but still essentially just matrices.

Anyone else noticing horrible speed decay on 14.3.2? Particularly noticeable in Chill on the highway. Seems to settle at 62mph (in a 65), while Standard settles at 72mph. Speed profiles causing problems yet again, just give us max speed. @DirtyTesLa @Tesla_AI

@CarawayDJ @kelley1201 @Tesla agreed. testers do well, but are mostly in urban areas. but 14.3.2 has regressions for me in rural areas. i also had to disengage twice yesterday when it backed out of my driveway requiring oncoming cars to stop x.com/mndrix_/status…

FSD 14.3.2 on Cybertruck needs some polish. 5 mph under the limit on all profiles on a dry, vacant, straight, rural road for the last 90 minutes. Had to juice the throttle every minute to maintain 65 mph. Didn't react to 30 mph sign heading into town. Too slow on gravel roads

@kelley1201 @Tesla What has most of us perplexed is trying to reconcile the glowing reviews of not just 14.3.2, but 14.3.1, with the fact that they paused the rollouts of each of them fairly quickly. Tesla is seeing something they don't like even if the influencers are not.

Just took a little road trip with FSD 14.3.2 when this happened. My car started slowing down & I didn’t know why… until I saw the motorcyclist in front of me reaching out to touch the trailer of the semi truck. This could have gone very wrong. 😬 Thank you @tesla for FSD!

Ok. I don’t know who is responsible for this, but please reconsider. It’s borderline dangerous to have a modal here, blocking critical information until an option is selected. This will get a lot of false responses because it needs to disappear quickly in many cases. Remove or make better. Thank you 🙏

@WifeDirtyTesla some rough edges for me too on 14.3.2 on two-lane roads. one example, even Mad Max is below the speed limit

Did some driving on 14.3.2 in my 2023 MY and still a decent amount of phantom braking. 😩 Seems to be isolated to 2 lane roads.

also, the new disengagement screen needs work. the inability to dismiss it is unfortunate since i always leave a voice memo. the options should be: navigation, speed, critical, and other. "preference" is too vague to be useful.
