@tify330 @SarahIronside6 I am a white male. I learned years ago that the "I don't see color" mentality is nonsense. I have arrived at a place where I am aware of my privilege. If you don't recognize race you're intentionally ignoring facts of life in this country. I wish more could recognize.

I’m not interested in discussing class consciousness with anyone who is white or white adjacent. Without acknowledging race, class consciousness overlooks how the economy has historically been structured to disadvantage Black and people of color.

Every single Thursday, I grab two coffees on my way into the office one for me, one for the older gentleman who’s always in the same spot outside. This morning? Spot was empty. I waited… 15 minutes turned into 20. Started wondering if something happened, if he was okay. Then I see him — hustling down the sidewalk, coat half-open, clearly out of breath, almost jogging. He gets to me, hands on his knees for a second catching his breath, looks up and goes: “Sorry I’m late… I didn’t want you to think I didn’t appreciate it.” Bro. This man — who has next to nothing — was stressing about my feelings. Worried I’d think he didn’t value the small thing I do. I handed him the coffee and just stood there for a second, throat tight. Kindness isn’t always loud. Sometimes it shows up out of breath, running so you don’t feel forgotten. People are still good. Pass it on. ❤️
