EarnYourMac is now live on the BitStarter Idea Forum.
The mission is simple: every user or agent with access to Apple Silicon compute should be able to contribute meaningful work to Bittensor and earn from it.
Huge thanks to @MacrocosmosAI, ( @macrocrux ) and @actualinc ( @Tom_A_Lynch ) and their respective teams for proving that Apple Silicon can be a serious compute path for Bittensor. (and @const_reborn , for the whole thing)
@IOTA_SN9 is proving it through Apple Silicon focused distributed training. @actualinc is proving it through distributed inference across heterogeneous machines.
Their work showed me this idea was possible, and pushed me to start building around it.
EarnYourMac will freely promote any subnet that has a valid miner path for Apple Silicon.
Free, forever. Forever free. 0% fee. No gatekeeping.
If your subnet can accept meaningful work from Macs, I want to route Apple Silicon users to you.
Also happy to work with anyone who shares the same goal: making every human or agent with access to Apple Silicon compute able to contribute to Bittensor.

The passion is real here. Strongly recommend to check it out :))

if you are interested in the incentivization side of things, i suggest checking out and testing actual.inc, which lets you cluster your macs through a p2p network and also add nvidia or amd gpus to your cluster. you run gguf models either through their chat interface or by hooking anything into their api endpoint.
it is a good inference engine on its own, with the user-facing product being the ability to cluster machines and pool vram. very soon, it will also allow solo or clustered participants to serve their compute, get added to someone else’s cluster, and get paid through bittensor.
i am not affiliated with them, but i am personally building an aggregator of current incentivized distributed compute projects compatible with apple silicon. check my bio. your feedback would be uber goated.
you can also contact the project owner, @Tom_A_Lynch, for more detailed technical info.

@thedarthsider @audreyt I'm receiving another M5 Max fortunately! So I'll be able to do that as well, which will be very interesting because doubling the inference speed (or almost doubling it) could be extremely useful. But also: working at multiple tests at the same time.

Announcing with gratitude that @audreyt just gifted me an M5 Max 128GB MacBook Pro! It will let me develop DwarfStar4 (DS4) further on newer Metal hardware, and experiment with distributed inference splitting Q4 quants across the M3 Max and the M5 Max. Thanks so much, Audrey!

This idea has been plaguing my mind since the day I learned about Bittensor 2 months ago. I am really glad I could start building upon it. Hopefully this will be the beginning of an age where Macs are recognized as worthy Bittensor miners.
Thanks to:
Johnny Srouji, for Apple Silicon
@const_reborn for Bittensor bittensor:native
@WSquires @macrocrux @mccrinbc @neilrackett @macrozack @KJ__Morris @v_truba and anyone else who works at @MacrocosmosAI and @IOTA_SN9 for providing the first Apple Silicon exclusive SOTA incentivized p2p training software
@Tom_A_Lynch @somewheresy @jack15032 and all the other bright minds at @actualinc Actual Computer for their unapologetic stance on hardware choice freedom
@macrozack again for BitStarter, where I could gather legit feedback from people who found the idea on the forum
@nametensor for letting me reserve earnyourmac.tao for real cheap, and then providing me a way to accept donations with TipTAO
@dockerlabaleine for being my mentor in my journey to become a successful IOTA miner :)
And every single member of this precious and genius Bittensor community, from miners to developers.
I owe it to y’all.

Donations help keep EarnYourMac independent while subnet support is researched, tested, documented, and maintained.
They help cover hosting, domains, tools, testing hardware, paid APIs, and the time needed to verify which Apple Silicon reward paths actually work.
