Good news! The province is planning to build a 680 unit development at the site of the under construction Martin Grove Eglinton LRT station. Lack of development on top of stations was one of the biggest mistakes of the initial crosstown project.

Ontario is proposing to build a new transit-oriented community at Martin Grove Station in @cityoftoronto, which will deliver approximately 680 new homes and support about 30 new jobs with direct access to transit.

@pcaverop @Ferro_Veloz Labour and materials are not 30x more expensive in Canada
English

@moretransitso @Ferro_Veloz It’s not about efficiency. It’s about cost of life. For your benefit, gross salary of a Canadian project director is around 400-450 k CAD. Gross salary for the same role in Spain 60 k€ (85k CAD)
Same approach with plant, labour or materials….

Platform screen doors are going in on Madrid Metro Line 6. The cost to add them to 28 stations is $150 million CAD, or $5.4 million per station. The TTC's cost for installing Platform Screen Doors at 70 subway stations is $4.2 billion or $60 million per station.

@Ferro_Veloz They look great! We need platform doors in Toronto but the money is the problem, hopefully we can learn how to do these projects efficiently like Madrid
English

@moretransitso Quite accurate but not correct. There are stations with 3 plattforms. So there are 28 stations and 70 plattforms. Do you like them?

Theres lot of ways to get between Mount Dennis and Kennedy. If schedules line up, GO/UP is the fastest option taking less than 40 minutes, and soon the tunnel between Bloor GO and Dundas West station will open. Which will reduce the transfer from 7 mins outdoors to 2mins inside.
