For the record, Metrolinx is one the largest owners of parking lots in North America, and the reason that GO Station parking lots are often FULL is because the are mostly “FREE” parking, which directly incentivizes solo-driver trips…

This is a perfect example of one of the reasons we have absurd transit costs. We can only compare ourselves to other Canadian and American agencies such as the MTA, who consistently have some of the worlds highest construction cost. Platform doors in Europe are 10x cheaper.

Councillor Nick Mantas asks about the TTC estimate of platform doors costing ~$50 million per station — have they benchmarked that versus other transit agencies? TTC staffer says yes, they compared to MTA costs and others, and found they're in the same ballpark.

It appears the new target opening for the Yonge North Subway Extension is 2034. Not surprising considering this project took several more years in planning compared to our other projects. Tunnelling is expected to begin later this year or early next year. thestar.com/news/gta/metro…

The Eglinton Crosstown West Extension recently reached an important target – completing the first bridge span for the 1.5-km guideway 🎉 This is the first of 35 bridge spans that will carry trains over the Humber River, where they will run east of Jane Street along the north side of Eglinton Avenue West before heading underground again and connecting to Mount Dennis Station. Keep an eye out for updates and construction activity as we continue to work towards building the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension.

A construction crew member walks south along recently realigned GO tracks on the Barrie line, south of Eglinton Avenue. The realigned tracks, moved closer to the west side of the right-of-way, will allow for a second track to go into the corridor in advance of 2-way, all-day service on this line.
