I reckon that’s a rough hindsight call. When he decided to go back he had 3 inside and 2 making runs outside. It didn’t pan out but a much better % play to try slot in behind. Not the norm to be forced to go right back from that position. If I’m re-assessing a bet there in the hope to get better for the future I’d firstly say did I map him to be in the first 4? No. Bad luck in an oddly run race? Maybe at a stretch but he was still ordinary. Which would lead me back to a common conclusion of why did I back a horse with no exposed form going forward at those odds.

If you want a clear indicator of a frustrated long-term losing punter, look no further than the abuse of champion jockey Mark Zahra for his rides on known get back horses Jimmysstar and Planet Red. The latter a slightly different story having to toss up between sitting 4/5 wide w/o cover on-speed or going back. Time would be better spent understanding form and pricing in the risks with those types.

Brae Sokolski has changed his racing colours, from the tartan green worn by horses like Incentivise and Yes Yes Yes to plain khaki with an Israeli flag on each arm. They won yesterday at Ballarat and go around today in Sydney. Surprised that Racing Australia allows flags on colours (aside from the once a year Australia Day colours).

@BlakeSpriggs That’s the point though it would’ve taken 0 effort to land closer the other day. Hard to see how making her run up in low 32s is less taxing than rolling on and having less to do late.

Comparing a run where Ole Dancer drew one over 1200m & was able to land closer making zero effort to a run where she drew the outside gate over 1400m and complaining that she went back is just rage bait for mug punters. She’s settled as one of the back 3 runners in 5 of 6 starts
