We need to talk about a developing case involving Nkosinathi Sekeleni, brother of Dr Nandipha Magudumana. Sekeleni, together with his co-accused Odwa Mnyaka and Sakhumzi Siwundla, were arrested on charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) following an alleged mob attack in Ferndale. According to SAPS spokesperson L.C. Masondo, the victim has since died in hospital on Monday. Reports indicate that the incident involved an Uber driver and escalated into a violent confrontation. An eyewitness a security guard claims that four men were kicking, punching and hitting the victim with stones, and that the injured man approached him asking for help. In his defence, Sekeleni stated that the man had allegedly robbed them of a cellphone. He says they followed him after locating him and that he did not assault the man but instead tried to stop the fight. With the victim’s passing, this matter may take a more serious legal direction.
