Never ignore blood in the stool. I’ve had fellow physicians sitting in my office telling me, they have noticed the blood for several months, but were just too busy with their lives to get it checked. @YannickBuccella So, even if the patient is not a suitable candidate for immunotherapy, they respond positively to it. Did I understand that correctly?

She was my very first colorectal cancer patient 5 years ago, who received dual immunotherapy despite her tumor not primarily classifying for immunotherapy. Her cancer had spread to the lungs without any options to perform surgery. She had gone through various cycles of chemo with no meaningful effect in the end. But her tumor showed a high reading of another marker called TMB - tumor mutational burden. ✅ After 3 cycles of immunotherapy all the lung metastases were gone and she remains with no evidence of disease until today. A tremendous success story of modern personalized oncology.

Well, in some countries this is also part of the recommendations: if you have a family history of colorectal cancer, especially young onset, the screening colonoscopies should start at the age of the youngest member of that family who had cancer. If that was 35, then it’s 35. If it was earlier, it’s even earlier. I’m quite sure though that the general recommendation age will drop over the coming years as we see the average age of colorectal cancer dropping as well.

@Cernovich Fruit fiber has in fact good evidence in being protective against young onset colorectal cancer. So our diet with a lack of healthy fiber definitely plays a role here.

Colon cancer has been on the rise, everyone blames the vaxx, even though the trend started many years before. It’s fiber.
