@leftistfromMI6 I don't see who the outsider would be tbh, looks like Rubio has a pretty clear path for 2028 given how poorly Vance is doing

AOC and Marco Rubio are the only people I'm 100% convinced will become their parties' nominees for president at some point

If we get free primary care for all Americans that would be a huge revolutionary idea that changes American healthcare. But then why not just do free healthcare for American citizens only or run on Medicare for All when Americans are clearly in support for that?

The free primary care idea is good, it would radically change American healthcare. I think it’s sort of obvious though the left has the momentum on healthcare policy and other factions of Dems are trying to figure out how to capture that momentum, without just copying M4All.
tré easton@treeaston

The problem with an all or nothing approach to this is that, more often than not, you end up with nothing. Medicare for All is your thing. Got it. But to act as if it’s the *only* solution (and that it’s not without its own tradeoffs) is a disservice to patients and voters.

@DobsonBugnuts @NateBlanchett He doesn't really gloss over it. He says "107 days, only really 77 when you count early voting." He's highlighting that truncated timeline as a problem.

Crazy to gloss over "had only 107 days to run" as if that was just a structural fact of the campaign cycle, or that Jen Psaki's handling of Biden's advancing dementia is the root of the problem rather than the dementia itself Had Biden simply reckoned with reality and announced in ~January that while he still feels he's doing the job well his age is advancing to the point where he's not sure if that'll be true tomorrow, and so he's resigning the presidency and trusting Kamala to pick up the baton, she could easily have won. If she'd lost, it at least would have been unquestionably her fault.

Blue MAGA and MAGA mirror each other in many ways, one big way is the closest they will come to criticizing “dear leader” is blaming those in their orbit, while absolving Biden/Trump of any agency for their grievances. David here is a perfect example, it wasn’t Biden himself who was to blame for dealing Kamala a rough hand, it was the “all-white inner political circle” around him

@thegingerrrrrr Not far better. Rubio is just damage control among Hispanics and is able to unify MAGA and RINOs. If Trump is as unpopular as he is today in 2028, Rubio won’t really do any better than Vance among Dems and Indies.

remember when biden ran on public option in the primaries against bernie’s m4a & every serious pundit told us bidens plan was the responsible doable alternative- only for biden to never bring it up again. the private healthcare industry is up to the same tricks one more time.
Sahil Kapur@sahilkapur

Scoop: Democratic think tank @SearchlightInst is pushing the party to embrace a new idea: Free primary care for all Americans. The group wants Dems to rethink their approach to health care and break out of the M4A vs ACA rut. They’re unimpressed with CAP’s proposal and warn that Dems need to have a vision beyond opposing Trump and restoring expired subsidies. “This is still our best issue, but we have not been on offense in a way that’s capturing people’s imaginations and getting them excited,” says @AJentleson. “We don’t need to be on defense or just advocating for incremental reforms.” Story w/ @BerkeleyJr: nbcnews.com/politics/polit…

@ZFlawles1s @DivineChimeraYT @whoseurlefty What you’re not grasping is the “idiots making decisions that affect all of us” are not voters but elected Dems. Blaming voters was defensible-ish in 2016 bc it was close, but in 24 KH got BLOWN OUT. 2024 wasn’t the result of some lefty knuckleheads, it was political malpractice.

@tyler_digital @NilesGApol The motive behind doing the redistricting for 2028 now was to ensure the seats were taken before a Dem potentially wins the governor's office and stops Rs.

@tyler_digital @NilesGApol KLB had the nomination locked up long before this. All this will serve to do is ensure that Ds have insane turnout to send her to the governor's office.

@SethAbrams1 @PollTracker2024 I don't think Bernie should be polled but I disagree that we should assume their numbers would combine. AOC usually gets 10% in polls w/o Bernie, so it's not like she has an extra 10% that gets stolen when Bernie is removed. He's a well-known name that prob gets unique support.

The "I'm a partisan hack but I'm moderate on policy" people are the worst. They advocate for total gerrymandering, they elect people like Graham Platner and Donald Trump and then wonder why their faction of their party is dying.

@rowanfornow - publicly repudiating Ds was prob of benefit to him, if I'm understanding you correctly - I'm glad that, despite any skeeziness from Osborn, NE Dems have still been all-in for him this cycle. Sadly, I expect him to lose, but it's been a hell of a fight they've put up.
