If they had focused half of that in performance rather than just creating perceptions they would have done better.

They were under the impression that they can complete the election with a puppet DGP Venkatraman. Huge efforts were made by this cabal headed by Baldi to ensure Rathore doesn’t make it to the top post at any cost. With the help of Abhay Kumar Singh, retired Director, DVAC, files were created against Rathore. But the Election Commission ultimately chose him, which is a good choice. Rathore is seen as a stronger and more suitable choice compared to others mentioned, particularly in the context of ensuring fair elections. It is also alleged that criticism being voiced through intermediaries like Sriram reflects the frustrations of the likes of ‘Baldi’.
