Well, never in our 42 years have we admitted one of these… 🤯 We've had A VERY exciting (and very tiny!) new arrival... Weighing just 105g, and sadly discovered in a rubbish bin alongside two deceased siblings, this young kit has been on quite the journey already, having been passed between four different people and locations before reaching us. Brought to us by a hedgehog carer believing he might be a fox kit… which, given his size, is an easy mistake to make, we couldn't believe our eyes when we realised he was something much rarer. Have you guessed yet? 🫢 Now in the care of one of our experienced hand-rearing team members, he will stay with us until he’s weaned and we gradually become more hands-off to ensure he doesn’t become imprinted - giving him the best possible chance at life back in the wild. Check back tomorrow for what exactly this rare visitor might be, and what are plans are next for him🧐.

@tiheroine @ebennett74 That is my kids. Both underweight. Both picky, but the foods they do eat are semi-healthy. My pediatrician told me they need calories and that it wasn’t worth making food a battle.

Thank you from a pediatrician. So much this. The number of obese preschoolers I see whose parents call them “picky eaters” (sometimes the parents bring them in just for this! 😳) is staggering.

@anenglishteachr Normally each school picks a winner. Then they fill out a form with their accomplishments, etc. they move to the state level where they interview and a state winner is chosen. Each state submits their nominee and I assume there is another round of interviews for finalists.

How does a teacher get picked for this? I'm not disparaging this person by any means - just curious what the criteria to be considered is
