A YC Company knocked off and stole my work 1:1. And this could happen to you next. Here's what happened 👇 2 days back @21st_dev launched an ASCII tool which was completely a ripoff of ascii-magic.com Everything from properties, effects, features, presets and even backgrounds were literally scraped off and used exactly. When I called out this mess, the founder got his ego hurt and unfollowed me instead of addressing the blatant copying. I'd probably not have been this upset if it was a solo designer trying to learn, experiment, or make a quick buck on the side. People learn by rebuilding things all the time. But this is a funded YC company. A company with resources. A company with a grown man as a founder. A company that absolutely knew what it was doing. And yes, before anyone jumps in to defend this, they knew exactly what they were doing. You can tell if you looked at their tool for 5 seconds. The fact that a YC-backed company can use AI to rip off a free tool, launch it publicly, and then refuse to acknowledge or address it is seriously alarming. Makes me think if this goes unchecked, they could (or have been doing this idk) do this to anyone in the future. So as a community, it is necessary we hold folks accountable. Thanks, Kailash

Lots of people are advocating for more American open-source models these days which is amazing but very few people do anything about it! Latest example, Alex Karp came out advocating for American open-source models as a necessity! At the same time, @PalantirTech is a free org on HF with 0 open-source models and 0 public datasets shared. Time to switch from talking to contributing for all!

Cette discussion de Guillaume Pley avec Yossi Cohen, l’ancien patron du Mossad israélien, est ignoble. Pendant 1h45, il a pu dérouler sa propagande sans aucune contradiction. Le média n’a jamais parlé du génocide à Gaza, ni des milliers de morts au Liban, mais décide de faire la propagande d’Israël. C’est un choix politique d’inviter cette personne, de la présenter comme un « invité exceptionnel » et de rigoler avec lui plusieurs fois pendant l’entretien. 
 L’ensemble de l’interview est catastrophique mais sur l’opération des bipeurs, Guillaume Pley annonce 42 morts et 3500 blessés et parle d’une très « grosse mission » alors que c’est une attaque terroriste. Yossi Cohen lui répond que seulement des membres du Hezbollah ont été tué alors qu’on sait que plusieurs civils sont morts dont deux enfants. Il dit ensuite que c’était « très ciblé et précis » comme attaque alors qu’il y a eu 3500 blessés, vous imaginez ? 3500 putain de blessés et Guillaume Pley enchaîne comme si de rien n’était, pas de contradiction. Il parle même de « victimes collatérales ». On va le répéter pour la centième fois, ce terme n’a pas sa place dans le journalisme. Ce sont des civils qui ont un nom, une histoire et qui ont été tués volontairement. Des bipeurs ont explosé dans des lieux publics, des familles sont traumatisées. Sans parler de tout le contexte actuel au Liban où l’armée israélienne a rasé des villages entiers et annexé une partie du pays.

Tout cet entretien est un naufrage éditorial en plus de cracher sur la tombe des milliers de victimes du Mossad. Le présentateur dit qu’il ne fait que des interviews « bienveillantes » sur Legend. On n’est pas bienveillant sur des sujets pareils, le tout avec 10 placements produits avant de parler de crimes de guerre, pitié quoi. C’est une honte de faire une discussion pareille.

Alors deux minutes d’explications : 1. Les modèles à poids ouverts sont protégés par la norme safetensors : par définition ils n’embarquent pas de code. Jamais vu un cas de backdoor. 2. L’alignement est reprogrammable avec un peu de RL/SFT. Mais bon ça fait des années que j’encourage la fonction publique à développer leur capacités d’entraînement de modèle, sans résultat.
