Now that Trump supporters are starting to lose their jobs, you’ll notice something very curious: Whenever they post about their lives being ruined, they always say, “I voted for Trump!” This is classic cult dynamics. They’re unable and unwilling to make the connection that the Republican Party is the cause of their woes — it would be psychologically devastating to acknowledge they voted for their own demise. To reduce the dissonance, they simply assume it must be some kind of mistake. You’ll see this over and over.

@NatashaSAlford I totally agree! And as the child of divorced parents and a blended family, when she spoke about that I nearly lost it. To be seen in that way - as I know she also is as a child of divorce - was huge.

This was honestly a very good conversation. Whoever booked this was smart. Beyond campaigning, I think politicians should do more interviews like these.
Meet people where they are. Be human. And use the platform to teach.
I like when Matt Barnes asked how a bill was made. Some people don’t know— and if they can come away with a better understanding of how government works, that’s a win.
