Talking about my buddy who has the worst slice of all time

I've said before that ship captains during the age of discovery were some of the most impressive human beings to ever live. We have trouble appreciating just how unimaginably great these men were. They had to play the role of navigator, cartographer, astronomer, logistics manager, military commander, judge, police captain, diplomat, CEO, recruiter, accountant and governor, all at the same time, and all under extreme duress, out in the middle of the ocean, cut off from the rest of the world where the penalty for one wrong decision was the death of everyone on board. These are some of the most brilliant and gifted human beings the world has ever known. Nobody on Earth today can come close to matching them. They had a level of both skill and physical courage that just doesn't exist on the planet today.

1:30 AM Update: MSP officially at 5" of snow and counting (as of 30 minutes ago). About 5.0" on the snowboard at my home on the Apple Valley/Lakeville line. Our in-house model continues to add impressive snow totals on top of what has already fallen. When all is said and done, the final snow map should look like the one in this post. Very heavy rates picking up right now. It's very evident where the biggest snowfall totals will be (south metro and SE MN). The SPC is highlighting much of the metro and SE MN for increasing snowfall rates of 2-3" per hour developing now and lasting through about 6AM. There was a slight southern shift in where I expect the heaviest snow totals to be based on how I'm seeing this storm behave, but otherwise it's generally on track. Stumbled into the local landscaper earlier today. He proudly was showing off his new zero turn mower. Unfortunately for him, not sure if he checked the latest snow models for this weekend

Will have to keep an eye on the possibility of a snowstorm this weekend in the Twin Cities and across parts of MN. Still days out so a lot can change but this one will be worth watching. Here's is what the Euro is showing:

Look man I support deportations but not like this. I thought we'd tell them to leave and they'd be like, "Okay no problem," and we'd be like, "Sorry didn't mean to make this awkward," and they'd go, "No seriously no worries at all," and we'd all shake hands and within a week there'd be no illegals here anymore and that would be the end of it.

This is the real Minnesota. When tragedy struck this evening, with a little girl not coming home from school, hundreds of everyday Minnesotans showed up to help from across the region. Don’t get lost in the crazy stories from the cities. This is who Minnesotans really are: friends, neighbors, and perfect strangers uniting in the middle of the night with one shared goal - to help. We are now waiting for K9 searches. Thank you to everyone who has already shown up. If you haven’t yet, they can still use your help and your prayers.
