@PM21372740 @infantrydort Bronze Star w/o a V is the Fobbit Good Conduct Medal. Meaning you never missed salsa night at the MWR, didn't catch the clap from your girlfriend in supply and all your slides were correct and made suspense for the daily CUB 🙄

@infantrydort Grunt here - on my deployment e7 and above got one for participation. But grunts that crossed the wire daily were overlooked. Not saying I deserved one, but I saw many men that did. As a result, I see a bronze star and think handout. They really watered down a prestigious honor.

Leaders need to stop gate keeping awards. We should never be denying awards based on rank. Let me give you an example: Meet my one of oldest and closest friends James (Jimmy) Ruane. Son of the famous American Jockey John Ruane (a big name in the 1950s). He joined the Army as a cook in his 40s and was one of the smartest and most capable Soldiers I ever knew. He joined me in the famed 101st Airborne Division in 2010. When I was a pre-command captain working as the operations officer for 2-502 Infantry, we had a brand new blimp with a camera on it which we were going to use to hunt insurgents and kill them. They were crawling around Zhari, Afghanistan back then. We needed an operator for the blimp and somebody recommended Jimmy…. a cook. Once I met him, I understood why. This guy was SMART. Smarter than me. Hell, smarter than everyone in the battalion. He figured out how to hunt bad guys FAST. 18 hours a day for 15 months, this man found bad guys and we killed them with our symphony of assets. Our little HQ tent got mortared many times. Folks died right outside frequently. Our tent riddled with shrapnel holes. We had to jump the HQ often because the Taliban got good at dialing in their 82mm mortars. The COP also got attacked directly and Jimmy would have to toss on his gear and help the defense. This was not a normal “FOBBIT”. He was directly responsible for the death of over 800 insurgents (yes I said 800). So I put him in for a Bronze Star (Meritorious). I figured hey, if the officers who are literally pushing paper are getting one, why not him? It was denied because he was only an E4. Too low ranking to deserve it apparently. I got one though. He always joked for years after to me “How’s my bronze star you’re wearing!?”. He was always humorous, but you could tell it bothered him. And it f**king bothered me too. Fast forward 13 years, he died. Broke, alone, an alcoholic, depressed, and had PTSD. Fighting with the VA for benefits. It wasn’t a suicide, his heart just gave out. To this day I always think what one simple piece of cloth and metal would have done to change the outcome of his life. Maybe nothing. Maybe everything. Miss you brother.

@infantrydort Retirement award downgraded based on rank and COMPO. Can't prove it, but I bet they didn't even read the narrative. BDE CDR who downgraded my LoM, got 1 as a PCS award after 18 months "commanding" a TDA BDE 🙄

🚨BREAKING: The Republican National Committee announced Tuesday that it is deploying staff — including “poll watchers” and “election observers” — to at least 17 states in what it calls a nationwide “election integrity” operation ahead of the 2026 midterms. democracydocket.com/news-alerts/re…

If you are a Millennial or later, you may be unaware of the near total domination Democrats had over American politics in the 60s, 70s, 80s and early 90s. Yes, the Dems and the GOP swapped Presidencies pretty routinely, but Congress tended to be overwhelmingly Democrat. When Newt Gingrich and his GOP team won a majority in the House in 1994, it was shocking and felt unbelievable. Now, in 2026, we are truly coming to understand that for decades Democrat electoral victories were built on: 1. Artificial, racist voting district constructs, ostensibly under the Voting Rights Act. 2. Complete control of votes and voting in most large cities. 3. Taxpayer dollars funneled to Leftist NGOs to promote Democrat policies. 4. A mass media with complete obedience to Democrats. 5. Illegal aliens, both for purposes of census district apportionments and illegal voting. 6. Highly questionable voting practices such as mail-in ballots, lack of voter ID, ballot dropboxes and ballot "harvesting." 7. "Errors" in census data that always pointed one-way. 8. The success of calling anyone who challenged their voting policies "racist." 9. Federal government employees "resisting" GOP policies while showing complete fealty to Democrat policies. Today, however, these electoral crutches are being kicked out one by one, and Democrats are becoming increasingly insane and violent as a result. Reality is being laid bare, and we are all coming to understand just how artificial Democrat power actually has been. In ten years they might be a powerless rump party, which suggests a third party supplanting the Democrats might soon be a reality. It's shocking, isn't it?

@Trysta_Krick Based on the slide excerpts, I can't figure out WHO is making the mistake. The bride or the groom? Is she warning the bride? Cabo trip and texting history sounds like she warning the bride

@EODHappyCaptain Works in reverse too I was at Pensacola for a friend's promotion and change of command. I'm wearing dress blues and squids were all saluting me. Including officers who out ranked me (prior enlisted Marine so I knew squid ranks) They just saw a lot of shiny stuff and saluted😉

@TEKBONK @CynicalPublius even those people deploy. I've got 4 deployments with the Guard from 05-17 NG DIV HQs are currently rotating through Kuwait. My last 3 years prior to retiring was working at the MOB platform for deploying Guard/Reserve units (2022-25)

Somehow there is an X debate going on right now about VA disability ratings. I'm hearing some idiots saying if it's not from a combat wound, you should not get a disability rating. To which I rebut with the following; 20+ years of: -12 mile ruck marches. -5k/10k/10 mile/every other distance runs. -Parachute landing falls. -Obstacle and confidence courses. -Vehicle rollovers. -Helicopter hard landings. -Heat injuries/cold injuries. -Anthrax shots, COVID shots, all other kinds of shots. -"Here, take some Motrin, you'll be fine." -Weeks/Months/Years of high stress and little sleep. -Extended periods of poor nutrition. -Weird diseases you can only get in places like Afghanistan or Korea. -Burn pits. -All other manner of training injuries. -Never telling anybody you are injured because if you do they might pull you from that leadership position you fought so hard to earn. You do all that for 20+ years, your body will be torn up, I promise. The US military is a physically demanding place, no matter what your branch of service or MOS. Training accidents happen routinely. People die in peacetime accidents, routinely. The idea that a VA disability rating should only come from something that also earns a Purple Heart is nonsense. If anything, our warriors are consistently denied VA disability ratings for what are clearly service-connected ailments.

I don’t actually like Bucees, I greatly dislike it actually, but I know that Bucees people are a cult and will all flood in to cheer at me implying that managing a bucees is a more important job than being in the Senate or being President. Because cult. x.com/ingelramdecouc…

Maybe my expectations were too high, but this was a deeply underwhelming experience. It was insanely busy and the prices were too high; it was like being in a mall in the 80’s but without an arcade to play Arkanoid in

@GlobalBoxOffice in related news, its just a movie, not based on ACTUAL events, made up people whose skin color has absolutely no bearing to the role, so anyone can play those roles. Lupita is a beautiful woman so she gets the role Elliot looks like a dude who can act, he gets the role.
