Used claude code to audit my home network today. It literally browsed my UniFi controller in Chrome, read the zone matrix, and helped me isolate IoT devices from my trusted network. The whole "AI looking at my screen and giving advice" thing is getting pretty useful.

Claude Code planning: "This feature will take 3 days." Claude Code in practice: one-shots it in 10 minutes. Me, feeling taunted: that would’ve taken me a week.

I built a new Python CLI tool called claude-code-transcripts that can create nice readable HTML versions of your Claude Code sessions, both local and pulled from Claude Code for web, and makes it easy to publish them online too simonwillison.net/2025/Dec/25/cl…

Just listened to an Apple News podcast narrated by Mark Boyett. A replay of real events about a Hollywood producer, it sound like the beginning of an audiobook caught myself looking for the sci fi angle.

IMO The biggest breakthrough W.R.T coding agents is not the model quality, but the ability to run concurrent agents. The cost of context switching between issues versus being able to spin up multiple agents with a simple prompt and then massage the results into shape is unmatched. This probably leans into the “senior bias” people have noticed with AI-assisted coding. I already know how to fix these issues, but I can do it faster by kicking off an agent than by context switching myself. I know the architecture, I know how the code should look, and I’ve built up the context to apply good judgment during code reviews. Now I have a tool that lets me do all of that much faster. #github #codingagent

You know the outage was bad when the daycare teacher asks you to sign in your child using a pen and paper and says, “Do you know about AWS?”

Announcing @ChromeDevTools MCP! 🚀 Connect your AI coding agent to Chrome's powerful automation & debugging capabilities with ease. Key features: ✅ Reliable automation: It can programmatically handle clicks, form fills, dialogs, and page navigation with ease. ✅ Performance insights: Go beyond simple audits. Instruct your agent to record a performance trace and extract actionable insights to optimize your web apps. ✅ Advanced debugging: Empower your AI to analyze network requests, list console messages, take screenshots, and even evaluate scripts in the browser context. ✅ Browser emulation: Easily test different conditions by emulating CPU slowdowns, network throttling, or various screen sizes. Works well with modern web apps and believe this will unlock new workflows for automated testing, AI-driven debugging, and interactive web development. And there's much more to come!

I’m running iOS 18 beta and CarPlay just read a message from my wife where she added a photo and iOS used AI to describe what was in the photo to me in my car while I was driving. What in the absolute fuck just happened

Premature abstraction is WAY more prevalent and worse than premature optimization and really handcuffs code bases for years and years.

I have turned on the playstation about 6 times since 2022 but each time I do #CallOfDuty wants to update, now it wants me to delete things or buy more storage so I can update it. May be I should get another game.

@wanderanimrod Why is it a bad thing if the AI knows how to speak my mother tongue ? I would love the AI to be a tool I can use to learn these languages better and teach them to our children?

We should give them just enough data on these "protected" languages for the bots to think they understand the languages but not enough for them to actually be competent at speaking or comprehending speech in those languages.
