Teachers spend $1.6 Billion of their own money ON THEIR STUDENTS EACH year. This hurts teachers since it’s assumed we are always willing to use our own money. We perpetuate the problem year after year. Besides, teachers aren’t compensated well enough to spend that kind of money.

We spend 50% more hours in school than Finland. They have NO standardized tests until PISA in HS and they outperform us every time. They have multiple recesses daily, & options like crafts, home Ec, PE, Arts. etc. And teachers have more control over teaching than politicians!
