Why are people threatened by Walter Rodney’s book though? Even in the book, he made it clear that he wasn’t excusing Africans from taking responsibility for the underdevelopment in Africa. He even identified a group and called them “The African sell out”.

Funny enough if you look at history most of the time they did pay for them with guns and liquor so that they could go fight the other tribes and then sell them as slaves in both the European and Islam slave trade.
Honestly, African history with outside forces is insanely complex, not just... what Hollywood traditionally shows.
Heck, did you know it was actually rare for Europeans to set foot in African soil over the fact that they could barely survive walking in the terrain so they just hired tribes around the oceans to guide some in or just do the whole things for them.
