@ass_deans Seems like you always side with the students. Did no one tell you the Associate Dean’s job is to take flak so faculty don’t have to? Solidarity with your colleagues.

I decide in favor of every student challenging a late assignment policy if the faculty member is now - or ever has been - late on submitting work to the college.

Since I’ll be spending a lot more time in St. Louis, I’d love to hear from you guys: Where are the best spots in town? What are the places I need to try and things I need to do this summer that are can’t miss experiences? I’m so pumped to get there and try it all!

During 10pm curfew enforcement, 23 juveniles were detained. Of those, 17 were from the county and 6 from the city. One parent refused to pick up their child. Prior to curfew, 3 juveniles (two 17-year-olds and one 16-year-old) were cited for failure to comply/interfering. #SLMPD

Phoenix hits 💯 on Tuesday. The record earliest 100-degree day ever recorded here is March 26, 1988. 2026 would beat that by more than a week 🌡️

@lady_valor_07 If you are looking for a good man, go to the gun range and find one with a concealed weapon permit. they're federal and state background checked and they have enough testosterone to provide for you.

St. Louis could have millions more in city revenue and cleaner streets. Instead, it has countless abandoned cars littering the curbs and a boots rusting in a city storage locker somewhere for the last eight years. Which would you rather have? ksdk.com/article/news/l…

@Cobylefko Guess the inspiration for this Dutch Ministry building built only in the 2000s. Was the American building designed by Sullivan??

St. Louis is one of the more fascinating places I've ever been. In parts, it feels like walking through the ruins of a once great Rome a century after the fall. In others, it still hums with a glory that is rarely found in most cities globally

@Cobylefko St. Louis, the city where, according to Jencks, Modernism died, when a series of social housing blocks, Pruitt-Igoe complex, were demolished in 1972. Did you check what was built in place of the complex???

@OpeSyntax The former National City where the old stockyards were located would actually be perfect. Lots of flat land and close to infrastructure.

So much consternation over data centers right now in the St. Louis region. Why not just turn all of East St. Louis and Cahokia into data centers? Literally just sell entire run-down municipalities in the east metro to these developers, then STL city and suburbs can rest easy.

@Jacob__Kirn Could that theoretically lower rents, making downtown more desirable for smaller firms?

There are very real – and serious – real-world effects tied to the bottoming out of downtown. Take Peabody Plaza for example. Its property tax bill has fallen 39% since 2019. Overall, assessed value for the largest office buildings has fallen 20%.

St. Louis Fire Dept
St. Louis Fire Dept@STLFireDept·
🔍The #CuratorsCorner looks back at one of the most significant fires in St. Louis since the 1976 Firestorm. On the afternoon of February 2, 1984, a #fire broke out in a large six story warehouse at Second and Dickson Streets on the city’s north side. The first alarm was received at 3:47 p.m., and the fire quickly escalated to a general alarm, ultimately tying up more than half of the city’s firefighting equipment at its height. The warehouse, nearly 100 years old, was owned by Flower City and contained more than two million dollars worth of patio furniture, baskets, and artificial Christmas trees. #Firefighters encountered dense smoke and intense heat as the fire rapidly spread throughout the building. Despite aggressive efforts, the fire climbed the elevator shaft and by approximately 4:30 p.m., conditions deteriorated and the fire was declared out of control. Chief Tom Long later stated that the fire was simply too much to handle and that firefighters were taking a tremendous beating under the extreme conditions. At 6:52 p.m., the south wall collapsed, injuring Firefighter James Roberts, who suffered a knee injury. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported. Firefighters continued operations until the blaze was finally brought under control at approximately 7:15 p.m. The building was completely gutted. The sprinkler system had frozen several weeks earlier and was inoperable at the time of the fire. The cause was undetermined and considered suspicious. This fire remains a stark reminder of the dangers posed by large commercial structures, extreme fire loads, and winter conditions, and of the resilience required of firefighters operating under the most demanding circumstances. #YourFireDepartment #STLCity
