@DonnaMarie_NC @marketamp @HansSling63 @RepMTG New Tesla is $25k, with federal and state tax credits and rebates (depends on your state of course, but federal gives $7500 credit). Add in savings from not having to buy gas, you're down to $20k over a few years of ownership. That's still a lot, but less than most ICE cars.

Former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene🇺🇸
I feel badly for the Auto workers. The Democrat’s Green New Deal is switching the entire auto industry to electric by 2035. Over the next decade, this will completely annihilate many of their jobs bc combustion engines will no longer be manufactured and China batteries will replace them. Now the UAW is on strike with the big three. Bidenomics and the Green New Deal are responsible for destroying their jobs and America energy independence.

@JudyDav67348657 @marketamp @HansSling63 @RepMTG All electric cars do this through braking, it's called regenerative braking. Unfortunately it only adds a few extra miles of range - the amount of energy needed to move the car and run AC /heat is much more than what can be generated by the car's motion

@marketamp @HansSling63 @RepMTG Can't you make an Electric Car that as its driving it recharges its own battery. Like we have in our truck that keep the battery in the Travel Trailer when we stop it's fully charged. Don't need to stop at a place with electricity.

@kareem_carr Sometimes just trying to - with a gentle effort - single-pointedly stay focused on your breathing, just left to it's natural patterns, really helps to settle the spinning thoughts that keep us up. 5 minutes 🫠😉 I wonder why this platform makes empathic communication so hard.

In the biological sciences, a "lab" isn't just a physical place. It's a group of people growing and learning about science together. This is what I want us to be on Twitter. Let's build a science community focused on: • Mathematics • Data science • Statistics • Artificial Intelligence • Computer science • Philosophy of Science • Learning How to Learn Welcome to the Kareem Lab. This is my name for this community. I want to use my platform to create a space on Twitter for people to be open and vulnerable about not knowing everything. Let's start small: Introduce yourself. Tell us a little about where you're at in your life right now. I'd like you to be a little vulnerable by making a request for information from the group. Something small like a life hack or a book recommendation. Something that you're genuinely curious about. • Do you want to finally learn to program in Python but don't know what version to use? • Are you struggling with how to get back into math? • Do you want specific advice on how to study? • Do you need a fun pop science book recommendation? I'll answer what I can but I want other people to answer as well. I don't know everything and some of you are really knowledgeable! I'll start: I'm a PhD student in the last year of my PhD so that's 99% of what I think about every day. I've been struggling a lot with my sleep lately. Does anybody have any advice for staying productive while struggling with sleep issues? Welcome labmates! Let's start chatting. I'll be using this hashtag #kareemlab so you can always find these posts.

Tenzin Mariko and her friends were recently beaten by Indian police while heading to a party. She politely asked why they were being beaten but the police women kept hitting her and pulling at her dress, and she finally struck back. (they were initially told they were stopped for being out past curfew) She and her friends were then taken to the police station where she was beaten by 10-12 police officers while her friends were beaten in another room. Police spat in her face five times. Her body was covered in bruises, and she describes being spat on as the most distressing part of the experience. She describes herself as feeling mentally tortured by the experience, as well as by the viral video clip that was recorded by a bystander as she was being beaten and fought back. She has begged people to not share the video if they have it, as it makes her feel more traumatized and disturbed. She couldn’t respond to all the calls and questions she received afterward, and hasn’t wanted to tell her family the news and cause them distress. @TenzinMariko is the most visible trans/LGBTQ+ person in the Tibetan diaspora. As commenters under her YouTube video noted, India is turning into a dictatorship and vulnerable groups including Tibetans who live without citizenship papers are unfairly targeted for abuse. Please show @TenzinMariko your support and honor her requests. #justiceformariko

Using Physics as your template for how science works makes you stupid about science. Physics is a weird little science with a very simplistic causal structure. It’s fundamental laws are universal. They operate always and everywhere. No other science is like that.

@EdKrassen @MericasPlumber1 The sad thing is, the majority probably won't watch more than a few snippets that somehow have been regurgitated to them in a way that gives evidence to reinforce whatever they already believe about Trump

BREAKING: Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee has ruled that all of Trump’s Georgia Election interference courtroom proceedings will permit cameras. That means we will not only be able to watch it on live TV but also stream it on services like YouTube and on X. Regardless of what you think about these trials, one thing so for certain —We should all want as much transparency as possible and this is a great first step. Will you watch the Trump trials?

A joyful shout out of congratulations to the India scientists and artists and technicians who successfully landed the Chandrayaan space ship on the dark side of the moon!!! A wonderful discovery of water as ice on the lovely moon eill hopefully follow! The moon is called "Shashi" in Sanskrit, meaning "possessor of a rabbit" since kids are told that Indra drew a rabbit in its surface to remind us of the power of compassion!! Jai India! Jai Bharat!

@Ron_Benfield @MarcHoag @elonmusk Um that's not what it means. There's a lab test with the car on tracks and it simulates a mix of highway/city driving speeds and braking etc. They take the range from that test and multiply by .7 to get closer to real-world driving (not in a lab). That's the protocol

As a 10+ year $TSLA holder, it really disappoints me to share negative experiences about #Tesla like this but this is just outrageous. Curious what response I get. Thoughts, @elonmusk?

@Ron_Benfield @MarcHoag @elonmusk The car manufacturers do the tests using protocols established by EPA and send the numbers in, EPA only audits a few models per year. Then they multiply the range from the tests by .7 to account for real world driving conditions. This explains it all - youtu.be/LuyHxV1drtY

@Ron_Benfield @MarcHoag @elonmusk I listened to a good explanation of the EPA test cycle - there they said the manufacturer has to take 70% of the range that the car got during the test.

@MarcHoag @elonmusk MYLR owner here. Staying between 90% and 10% state of charge, 180-190 miles at 75-78mph is about right. It’s just physics. If you want 330 miles, drive the EPA test cycle exactly and you’ll come pretty close.

@lolimanidi8582 @Jon83989650 @MarcHoag @elonmusk Same - I have both a 2020 Kona EV and a 2019 model 3 The Kona routinely gets started range or better in the non-winter months (without heat on) The Model 3? Hasn't once gotten near stated range (yet to drive it during the winter)
