Pakistan has deployed a huge military contingent comprising 13,000 soldiers and 12-18 fighter jets in Saudi Arabia. ◾ Pakistan is likely to deploy at least 50,000 soldiers in Saudi Arabia, along with more fighter jets, sources say. ◾ This deployment in Saudi Arabia is a part of strategic defence agreement that both countries signed last year. ◾ This deployment has come amid the escalating tensions in Middle East as the US-Iran talks fail in Islamabad.

UPDATE: Within an hour, around 10 aircraft reportedly landed at Islamabad’s Nur Khan Air Base, with arrivals including flights from Tehran and Istanbul.

The narratives about Pakistan wanting attention or fearing war with Iran because of its Saudi defence pact were directionally wrong, even if there's truth to them. Pakistan massively benefits from a weakened Iran, which is far more certain than the outcome of regime change. There’s a reason I told Pakistanis to prepare for and not oppose the inevitable strikes on Iran, but also that they should be concerned about a regime change, even though I never actually opposed it myself. If things do go well, which is still highly uncertain, this could be a major W for Pakistan. Let's see what happens.
