UP is a puzzle but Ayodhya is even worse. I'm scratching my head over the BJP's loss in Ayodhya. They've got temples, hotels, jobs, and an airport - what more do they need? Thoughts?

The election results do not mean that the election commission was not biased or not incompetent, or the courts were not performing their duty, or the media was not acting as the propagandist arm of the BJP, or the democratic institutions had not hollowed out.

The media cannot play the role of the Opposition, expecting it to do that leads to unfair charges of Godi or Modi media. If the Opposition is in disarray, the media cannot be blamed for it. We are observers in this boxing match, we are not the players: Kalli Purie, Vice Chairperson and Executive Editor-in-Chief, India Today Group, delivers the Vote of Thanks at India Today Conclave 2024. #IndiaTodayConclave24

The Indian government has issued executive orders requiring X to act on specific accounts and posts, subject to potential penalties including significant fines and imprisonment. In compliance with the orders, we will withhold these accounts and posts in India alone; however, we disagree with these actions and maintain that freedom of expression should extend to these posts. Consistent with our position, a writ appeal challenging the Indian government's blocking orders remains pending. We have also provided the impacted users with notice of these actions in accordance with our policies. Due to legal restrictions, we are unable to publish the executive orders, but we believe that making them public is essential for transparency. This lack of disclosure can lead to a lack of accountability and arbitrary decision-making.
