I don't expect any of you to give a shit, but I would like to share something with all of you. This is kind of a cautionary tale for younger person in my audience. For the love of God: DO NOT FUCK AROUND WITH BENZODIAZEPINE. Like it was a plague, don't do Xanax, or Klonopin, or Valium, unless it is under strict medical supervision and you're well educated on the drug. When I was 18 I had severe anxiety. My anxiety was so extreme I was afraid to shower, put gas in my car, etc. Once I was so afraid to shower I didn't bathe for 8 months. My anxiety was debilitating. I was eventually given a narcotic called Klonopin. The doctor didn't warn me about the drug. Klonopin is an extremely effective anti-anxiety medication. It was like a breathe of fresh air. I was able to function. It saved my life. However, what the doctor DID NOT tell me is that Klonopin is like rat poison and is INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS. I cannot stress this enough: INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS. The long term effects of Benzodiazepine is catastrophic. General speaking, physicians only want you taking drugs like Klonopin for 90 days MAXIMUM. I've been taking it for over 15 years. My brain and body are both heavily dependent on the drug. If I don't have my Klonopin I physically cannot function. My arms shake, I get headaches, I get confused, I get overwhelming anxiety, I get physically sick, it is absolutely awful. It feels very similar to having the Influenza virus mixed with extreme sleep depravation mixed with being hung over. Additionally, whenever I told other physicians I take Klonopin I am treated like a drug addict and they scoff at me. Several times in the past, when in an Emergency Room or whatever, and I mention I take Klonopin, I've had doctors directly tell me, "Well, I'm not going to give you any Xanax", or "Why are you really here?". It's terrible and embarrassing. Anyway, to make a long story short I've decided to begin the journey of quiting the drug. I can't quit cold turkey, because it can kill you .. because it can cause death by stroke, heart attack, seizure, ... whatever. Instead I am working with my physician to slowly taper off the drug. I'm day five into a 25% reduction, which in some cases is fast, but I agreed to try it. I've had mild insomnia and mild irritability. Besides this though I'm doing pretty good. Once I've kept at this 25% reduction for about 8 weeks I will try to reduce by another 25%. Seriously though, don't fuck around Benzos like Xanax, Klonopin, Valium, etc. This shit will fuck you up bro

I've seen a lot of confusion about this post and the meme-ing from it. Initially I didn't really care to discuss it (I still don't), but because I've seen a lot of noobs discussing it I've decided I'll partially address it. There are a few different types of polymorphism (and methods or techniques which are similar to polymorphism). - Polymorphism (OOP class inheritance) - Client-side/Server-side Polymorphism - Metamorphism - Oligomorphism - Code Integration OOP class inheritance polymorphism isn't related to what I'm discussing. But, because sometimes it's confused for the other type of polymorphism, I'm mentioning it. The other types of *-morphisms are sometimes called "mutation engines" depending on context. In the 1980's, 1990's, and 2000's, malware and other malicious payloads using "client-side" polymorphism were seen as a golden standard for evasion. Although now it's kind of dead and has been replaced with "server-side" polymorphism. Client-side polymorphism results in a malicious binary changing itself (in some degree) each time the binary is executed. This is different than server-side polymorphism in which the malware changes each time the malware is "compiled". Client-side polymorphism is possible through a wide array of different techniques, but the most important thing is the "engine" itself. The "engine" is the part of malicious code which is responsible for the mutation. In polymorphism the "engine" remains the same and "mutates" or "morphs" the other code segments. Client-side polymorphism is still around today in malware samples such as BerBrew, XMRig, and a few other malware families. It is cool and badass code wise, but implementation wise it isn't very good. The reason why it isn't "good" is because of the enhancements made to anti-malware technologies. More specifically, although the code segment changes, the "engine" itself remains static. You can think of this conceptually as "How many ways can we get to 100?" You could do: 50 + 50 = 100 25 x 4 = 100 10 x 10 = 100 Conceptually we are still reaching 100, however the methods in which we reach 100 is different. This different compared to oligomorphism which the key structures remain static, but the order of operations change. Conceptually you can think of it as: 25a + 25b + 25c + 25d = 100 25b + 25d + 25a + 25c = 100 It is still using the same components, but each "mutation" is predefined. Server-side polymorphism, also sometimes called "hashbusting", is the result of malware developers having the file signature change each time it is compiled or downloaded. The result is fundamentally similar to client-side polymorphism except it is exponentially easier to accomplish because it can be done pre-compilation using macros or "build steps" Example: - Run compile.bat - Compile.bat modifies the target code base - Compile.bat then invokes the compiler via the command line interface and compiles the code base it modified If you're curious on mutation engines I will give a link to our GitHub where we have archived several mutation engines including m0yv. m0yv is a relatively mutation engine that got some attention a few years ago. It's cool. In modern era anti-virus (or anti-malware, whatever you wanna call it) technologies, these vendors often implement "static-analysis" detection. This technique is ideal for identifying well-known malware families and existing malware samples identified. From a high-level overview the anti-malware service will load a file into memory and review it for a series of characters (or more specifically assembly opcodes or byte sequences) which match an internal database of "known-bads". A great example of this is using "YARA rules" to search for known-bads on services like VirusTotal. This technique is often complimented with (here it comes) a kernel-mode driver. In anti-malware (and hopefully anti-cheats) a well-known and widely adapted technique is using kernel-mode components to review binaries via kernel mode process creation callback routines. This sounds weird, but it's not. Basically when an executable is ran the Windows operating system notifies other kernel mode components that a process is being created (for those curious: PsSetCreateProcessNotifyRoutine). Hence, when the kernel mode component is notified a process is being created the anti-malware examines the file being loaded. It temporarily "suspends" the process, performs static-analysis on the file, and depending on the result of the operation it either "halts" the execution of the process or allows it to resume. This is also sometimes performed using "minifilters". What a minifilter does, is as the name suggest, "filters" contents from the kernel-mode perspective. Minifilters come in what is known as "altitudes" and works in an order of operations. Defining minifilters more intimately kind of goes beyond the scope of this, but I HIGHLY recommend reviewing "Allocated filter altitudes" via Google (or whatever search engine you prefer) to see what is allocated on Windows OS. You'll notice there is an entire altitude reserved for anti-malware services (this is usually where the callback routines are handled). The process I've described here can only be performed from kernel mode. User mode components cannot receive callback notifications when a process is creation. The only way for a user mode process to become aware when a new process is created is by performing "polling" ... basically looping over, and over, and over, infinitely looking for when a new process is created. Additionally, the user mode component does not possess the ability to "suspend" a process prior to creation and (sometimes) it does not possess the ability to "halt" or "kill" a process. Furthermore, a user mode component may not possess the ability to perform static-analysis on another user mode component because, in laymen terms, "they're on the same playing field". Of course there are some edge cases here, but this rule can be applied a majority of the time. Anyway, my shift with my newborn baby is starting soon, but to conclude this insanely long rant is that "polymorphic" is an adjective which describes "polymorphic" features of an object. More specifically, "polymorphic classes", "polymorphic malware", etc. Stating someone "removed the polymorphic" is akin to saying "removed the tall", "removed the fast", "removed the depressing", etc. It contextually does not make sense and is ambiguous. Additionally, it does not make sense to "remove" something which is "polymorphic" because the polymorphism is the result of a polymorphic engine, or a server-side polymorphic compilation process, which has created the mutating file. Someone could say, "we developed a YARA rule or static analysis method to detect polymorphic features in this cheat", but that is not what is being said. Other things can be said too about "code caves", or "pulled it out into assembly", because the nomenclature is botched beyond logical comprehension but I don't feel like writing anymore. I hope this helped some people understand things. I have to go take care of my newborn son now. Love you -smelly
