Teen Suspect Held on $500K Bond in Port Aransas Beach Shooting A 17-year-old from San Antonio accused of opening fire on a crowded beach in Port Aransas appeared in court Monday, where a judge set his bond at $500,000. The suspect is facing five counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after a late-night shooting left five people hospitalized. Police say the violence erupted following an altercation between two groups near an area known as “Hole 20.” Investigators allege the teen fired multiple shots from a pickup truck as it was leaving the scene. Officers later stopped the vehicle and recovered a handgun linked to the shooting. Two victims remain in critical condition, while the others suffered serious injuries. VIA: @News4SA

On March 6, last year Army Veteran James Godfrey was beaten on a CATS bus, and the attack left him paralyzed. On March 12, 2025 CMPD arrested Moses Early age 30 for the attack, the details of which are horrific. After the attack Early got off the bus at 1210 North Tryon Street. Mr. Godfrey lay motionless with a broken neck and severed spinal cord, for miles as the driver continued on her route to the CATS transit center and finally requested MEDIC after realizing that passenger on the bus was injured. Early was charged with AWDWIKISI and the attempted murder of Godfrey after police reviewed video from the bus. Early was held without bail until June when liberal Judge Carla Archie released him on a $200,000 "unsecured' bond. He walked out of the jail on a promise to appear and to behave himself. He was set to be arraigned in November on the attempted murder charge but that court hearing was canceled. On February 19, 2026 he was arrested for domestic violence and was given a $1,500 bond by Judge Keith Smith knowing full well that Early was a violent felon charge with attempted murder. Early was released on March 11, 2026. On March 17, 2026 Early tried to enter the soup kitchen "A Roof Above" at 3410 Statesville Avenue. When asked to leave he refused. CMPD was called, he was again asked to leave and he again refused and was arrested for resisting arrest and trespassing. At this point he is being held pending at court hearing this morning at 10:00 am.
