𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗼𝘃𝗮𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝘄𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 NATO PA continues supporting its long-standing partner🇲🇩 The study visit advanced political dialogue and a deepened understanding of the Alliance. It followed a successful visit of the NATO PA members to 🇲🇩 in 2025. Moldovan counterparts can benefit from NATO's support in areas such as capacity building, cyber security and defence education, while Allies have valuable lessons to learn from Moldova's experience in countering hybrid threats, particularly electoral interference. 📍In 2026, the #NATOPA will return to Moldova for its Rose-Roth Seminar. Had fruitful and engaging discussions on strengthening diplomatic ties and parliamentary diplomacy between India, @NATO_PA, and NATO member countries with Mr. Marcos Perestrello @MarcosPerestre1, President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and Deputy Speaker of the Portuguese Parliament, along with Mr. Artur Reis, Mr. Andrius Avizius @AndriusAvizius, Director of the Political Committee at NATO PA, and Mr. Sverre Myrli @SverreMyrli, MP from Norway. Welcomed them in the traditional Himachali way, adding a touch of Indian hospitality to our productive exchanges. Looking forward to more such productive exchanges in my role as Leader of the India-European Parliamentary Friendship Group.

𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 Bringing real-time insights from NATO countries a NATO PA delegation, led by president @MarcosPerestre1, took part in the @raisinadialogue. They reflected on renewed security challenges and areas of common interests between #NATO and #India. Meetings with Indian lawmakers, @priyankac19, @ianuragthakur, @SujeetKOfficial, @ShashiTharoor, and Shri Manish Tewari, explored the potential of deepening parliamentary exchanges between India and the Assembly.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗢’𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀? Some 140 legislators from both sides of the Atlantic addressed this question during the Joint Committee Meetings in Brussels. A strong European defence also means a stronger @NATO. The European Union and its Member States are mobilising up to €800 billion in defence spending by 2028. We are invested in ensuring a lasting peace on our continent, rooted in international law, respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the principles of the United Nations Charter – whether in Ukraine or Greenland. It was my privilege to address the @natopa - NATO Parliamentary Assembly today.

Today, I truly welcomed the opportunity to interact with the @natopa, one of the institutions that characterise NATO as an alliance of democracies. Such an institution is a key link between #NATO’s leaders and armed forces with the citizens of the Alliance. Among the several topic raised, we discussed: 👉 Outcomes from our most recent Military Committee in Chiefs of Defence Session. 👉 How we are building on our Summit in The Hague to further strengthen the Alliance. 👉 The renewed transatlantic link, also reflecting on the discussions held in Munich, this weekend. 👉 We also stated, once again, that Deterrence is not a theory. Parliamentary diplomacy shaping discussion at the @MunSecConf #MSC26. For the first time, the #NATOPA and @NATO jointly organized a side event in #Munich. The closed-door discussion titled "Guns AND Butter: Sustaining Defence Spending Amidst Societal Challenges" was co-chaired by @MarcosPerestre1 and Francois Marie Gougeon and convened a small group of members of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, NATO officials, business leaders, policymakers, and experts. @ClaudMajor and @MevlutCavusoglu kicked off the side event with their impulse remarks. The group discussed the challenges and opportunities of achieving the historic increase in defence spending agreed at the NATO Summit in The Hague. Participants exchanged views on how to build public trust and sustain political consensus for long-term defence investments, as well as how to strengthen Allied economic and industrial readiness to ensure continuous deterrence and defence. The group concluded that parliamentarians play a key role in building public trust and sustaining a broad-based political consensus for long-term defence investments.

Thankful to @natopa SG @benedettabertiw for our productive meeting at #MSC2026. We discussed how Belarus has become a Russian military foothold & why talks on 🇺🇦 must include the withdrawal of Russian troops from Belarus. Europe’s security is inseparable from a free Belarus.

Great meeting with @MarcosPerestre1 on the sidelines of @MunSecConf. We need to strengthen #NATO’s defence capabilities and accelerate progress on defence spending. These issues will be at the top of the agenda at the upcoming @natopa session in Vilnius and the NATO Summit in Ankara.
