Okay, maybe "skill" was a bad phrasing.
I meant that the newer games focus more on reflexive, reaction based, active combat, while in the older games skill comes more from timing and positioning.
That's why I said skill does matter for the old games in the second line 🙂

My main issue with the recent MH games is that he outcome of a hunt is now entirely based on player skill In the older games skill definitely mattered, but preparation, knowledge and planning were a much larger focus, playing into the idea of being a hunter rather than a warrior
