On the Spence pen. It’s 100% a pen and a foul to me. Did he make it happen? Yes. Was he fouled. Yes. It’s like when a player knocks it past the keeper and gets clattered - it’s the same principle. If we aren’t giving pens for that - no idea what is a pen then.

That is genuinely one of the worst referee/VAR decisions I have ever seen. Spence is running with the ball and gets past his man. In what fucking world is he not allowed to step across to get to/defend the ball.

I’m an attacker. I was brought up all my life you step across the defender to protect the ball and either you keep the ball or you’re fouled. I don’t know what football is in 2026 now because how is that not a pen??

Don’t understand that decision at all Why can an attacker not put his leg in front of the defender to shield the ball and keep possession? It’s not like he’s just hung a leg there

@naven_gary There was plenty of reason to step across him, and even if you don’t think there was, he can move in whichever direction he wants. The defender can’t just run into the back of him.

He can step across. He is in front and has the ball. The defender can’t just run into the back of him. It’s certainly not a foul that should be overturned

That is penalty all day long regardless of if the attacker steps across the defender, Spence is well within his right to step across to protect the ball!!

I coach kids to do that every week. Get the body/leg in front, protect the ball and drive away. If the contact comes then it’s a foul, seems pretty simple to me. Lost how that’s not a foul!
