Some more footage of the missed turn at the USATF Half Marathon Championship in Atlanta at the intersection of Nelson Street and Ted Turner Drive. Jess McClain is clearly just following the lead vehicle, like anyone would in her position. All the "you should know/memorize the course if you're a pro" discourse is ridiculous.
Chris Chavez@ChrisChavez

What a weekend! We had a lead vehicle drive the top women off course at the USATF Half Marathon Championships with World Road Running Championship spots on the line. We sort through that mess and consider what could happen next. Oh! And the biggest performances at the USATF Indoor Championships! 🎧 SPOTIFY: open.spotify.com/episode/1RxqMG… 🎧 APPLE PODCASTS: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/thi…

@TimAdams76 they need to give this kid a world class trainer that understands his age and still growing. They need to ramp him slowly or they will run him into the ground. His conditioning already appears other worldly for a 16 year old he didnt even look gassed😅

If Sam Ruthe continues on this trajectory then he will be scarily good at the senior level. One of those generational talents that you pray stays grounded and is looked after well. Ruthe is one of the most promising middle-distance teenagers in the history of track and field.
AW@AthleticsWeekly

AGE-16 WORLD RECORD Sam Ruthe has made more history at the beginning of this season 🔥 Just a week after running a 3:53.83 outdoor mile in New Zealand, the 16-year-old clocks 3:48.88 to win at the BU Terrier Classic in Boston 🤯 That puts him 11th on the global all-time indoor mile list 🌎

A 16 year old just ran a 3:48 indoor mile. That's insane. Mind blowing. Sam Ruthe from New Zealand. It's hard to wrap your head around the new reality of fast times in track. Especially for the phenoms.

@Brady_H I thought there wasn't any performances benefit of artificial sweeteners Vs real sweeteners in mouth receptors? Has there been developments since this was published? pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19237430/

Diet Coke is the ultimate performance beverage. - 40 mg sodium = better hydration over water - 50 mg caffeine = moderate stimulation, better focus, endurance + strength - Artificial sweeteners activate oral receptors linked to ⬆️ performance, mimicking carbohydrates

Loved the end of this week’s Coffee Club podcast. Either Cole Hocker is really good at keeping a straight face or he’s so locked in on Cameo that he treats a relay gold at World XC the same as a kid winning the state XC meet with their team. youtu.be/S_wIzRfrVTs?si…

@feelthebyrn1 @justindaerr Less injuries over the last year meant much less walking and cycling. But much more running! (4500k in '25 vs 3000k '24)

We called it Kenyan Training Get a locker at the pool and leave the car at home Ride/run/walk to the pool, the track, anywhere @justindaerr took it further, he would 'ride to the ride' All that easy volume adds up across a year
Max Stoneking, PT, DPT@max_stoneking

@feelthebyrn1 I also really like how most of your commuting appeared to be easy cycling. Probably resulted in a lot of hours that didn't feel like "training" but were exactly the training you needed.

@stevemagness Time for a Japanese corporate ekiden style quota on non citizen athletes? Say only 2 allowed to start in team scored races?

One big problem with our sport is very few put their own ambitions aside and look at what’s best for the health of our sport…on every level. It’s one reason why it’s dying. And more and more schools will cut XC and track…

If you scored the top five American men at the 2025 NCAA cross country championships as a US all-star team, they would have scored 70 points. That's 13 more than Oklahoma State scored to win the men's race. letsrun.com/news/2025/11/w…

@Brady_H 45min hot bath is intense! So hard to stay in that long, annoying to get out & back in when ur unbearably hot, & then the water gets cold. Then again lots of homes have them. I strongly prefer sauna & chose my gym (walking distance from home) based on the fact they had one

Trained runners who used a hot bath for 45 minutes per day (40C/104F; 5x/week; 5 weeks) increased their VO2 max by ~4%, plus: - ⬆️ Hb mass by 33g - ⬆️ blood volume & cardiac function - ⬆️ speed at VO2 max by 0.8 km/h (0.5 mph)

Imagine spending two years researching and writing an authorized biography on one of the most singular technology and business figures in history and still having so little curiosity and insight. Imagine thinking that the best Elon could contribute to government is to register his opinion that DoD procurement sucks. Everyone knows that! We have so little from the past, so little insight into the why and how of the people who built the world we have inherited. The best is detailed first person technical memoirs, such as those by Leslie Groves or Kelly Johnson, but even then. It's not much to work with. In 100 years we'll have a few bios of Elon and a million pieces of clickbait and, at the current rate, not a single usable "how to" for anyone interested in attempting to replicate the SpaceX/Tesla production function. Despite the fact that effective large scale technical management is on the critical path for civilization. It drives me crazy.

American's Book Club @WalterIsaacson on Elon Musk: "It's a shame because had he gone into government and focused on what he's good at...He could have changed the government for good, but instead...he started, you know, let's get rid of this part of USAID and firing people."
