STATEMENT
Earlier this week, I returned from Vancouver, where I had the privilege of spending some time inside a 70-year-old Beaver.
In sharing that experience on social media, I made what I believed to be a fairly innocent aviation reference… which, judging by the messages, raised a number of eyebrows and at least one glass of wine.
Let me be absolutely clear.
The Beaver in question was an aircraft.
A historic aircraft.
A beautifully engineered, albeit slightly moist, Canadian aircraft.
At no point was I referring to anything else…
although I accept that, in hindsight, the phrasing may have allowed imaginations to taxi well beyond the holding point.
I would also like to clarify, at my wife’s request, that she is in her 50’s, and not in any way connected to the aforementioned Beaver, historic or otherwise.
At no point was I referring to anything else.
However, I do recognise that the tone of my post, combined with certain phrasing, may have unintentionally created ambiguity… particularly for those less familiar with Canadian bush… flying heritage.
For that, I apologise.
I would also like to reassure everyone that I continue to hold the highest professional regard for Beavers of all kinds… particularly those that have serviced Canadians reliably for over 70 years.
Lessons have been learned.
Moving forward, I will endeavour to ensure that all future references to Beaver are… less open to interpretation.
Thank you for your attention and we won’t be taking any questions about Beavers at this time. 😜

@DollysGarden @ColinHughesUK @AppleSupport Ah good stuff. Yeah I was fairly certain it would end up working. Bit of an unnecessary faff, but glad u got there 👍
English

@nclflyer @ColinHughesUK @AppleSupport It did work on my phone and now I have the same performance to look forward to on my iPad. 🙄Took several attempts, but finally got there! 😄
English

I’m 60, but since updating to iOS 26.4 I’m struggling to convince Apple I’m over 18. I don’t have a credit card, only a debit card, and scanning my UK passport does nothing. Any suggestions, @AppleSupport?
Can you also confirm what will not work until this is resolved?

English

@DollysGarden @ColinHughesUK @AppleSupport Yeah definitely persevere with it because it does work. I had to hold phone camera still over driving licence for just under a minute but it did eventually work. Could be a server issue as everyone may have been trying at the same time.
English

@flightradar24 He’s managed to taxi off the runway so that’s a good sign all is okay.

Ryanair flight #RK3226 to Oslo has squawked 7700 and is returning to Manchester.

@SquawkAlert He did mention “one engine inop landing” but then heard no more mention of it. Then again it’ll be well rehearsed for them so I guess it’s pretty uneventful. No doubt Manchester spotters can confirm 👍

@StansaidAirport Not funny, W⚓
You know I missed my connection today! Grrrrr!

@MartinSLewis Lloyds. No issue here other than a note on log-in that there could be an issue. But mine seems fine.
English

Do you use the Lloyds, Bank of Scotland or Halifax apps? People have been messsaging me this morning of being shown other peoples transactions. I want to see how widespread this is. Has it happened to you. If so
a) What are you seeing? Which app.
b) If it is someone elses transactions does it give any of their details too (name, account number etc)?

Update: rang @DirectLine to see if they could price match, they could only get it down to £800 (from £1100). Enter @AdmiralUK who gave dad a quote of £477. Shame on you @DirectLine
English

@DirectLine at a time when car insurance is actually going down (mine has, and a number of my relatives insurance have), why has my fathers shot up from £700 to over £1100 ?. Absolute disgrace. Needless to say we won’t be using Direct Line any more.
English

@C_Barlow89 @DirectLine Yeah last year my quote was down from £730 to £700, but with a little shopping around I got it down to £450. A big saving with not a lot of effort 👍
