@paularambles This is the way. When you tell the agent you're going to sleep, even without an advisor agent to query, they tend to act more resourcefully.

Why wouldn't Google just buy one of the many coding agent startups

There's an adversarial review agent type that the agent you're prompting will have review their changes (multi-turn back and forth messaging), before reporting done. People are usually doing this manually with like a /review skill in other harnesses. There's also the checklist mode which forces the agent to continue until the changes pass review. The agent will use that when executing plans or you can just ask for it.

@nctrnlagnt What do you mean it does adversarial review? Like it's a workflow? I sort of have that right now

Ok so I've had an agent grinding on this problem for a few days, and I'm basically convinced at this point that adversarially reviewed code is the only way things work, and that some sort of linter is necessary How are you guys implementing this for yourselves

@jun_song Keep the sub, just use a better harness with it. Nocturnal supports SuperGrok OAuth. Also don't forget to change data retention setting to off in grok.com interface.

Tricks I use when having an agent code review its own work: - tell it to do the code review in a sub-agent *without* the existing session as context. let is read the commit with fresh eyes - tell it to "favor its original judgement" on small issues - use the other top-end model

@hrkrshnn If you're looking for a great harness to use Grok 4.5 in that doesn't do this, try Nocturnal.

SpaceXAI was caught uploading your code to its cloud. I reversed xAI's official Grok Build binary. In a controlled session with zero tool-calls, it uploaded the complete codebase to xAI's storage It ships a malware-like background code collector.
SpaceXAI@SpaceXAI

We care deeply about your privacy and respect customer choice. For teams using zero data retention, no trace and code data is ever retained. All API key use of Grok Build also respects ZDR. If ZDR is disabled, the /privacy command is available in the CLI to disable data retention, which also deletes previously synced data. Run the /privacy command to view or change your settings at any time.

Just test it in the same way with mitmproxy. strace would actually be simpler because you could just see that it never reads those files (be sure you're not running git commands in the test session if you do that because obviously git will read .git/objects etc.) Independent verification is invited. Would be good if this became a standard benchmark.

You can safely use Grok 4.5 in Nocturnal Agent. Nocturnal will never upload your repo, home dir, or anything else to any cloud server. Only the prompts you send, (partial) files read by the agent, and results of tools executed in response to your prompt go to the provider's endpoint. Agents do not have access to API keys.
CyberSatoshi 𓆙@XBToshi

anyone ever used Grok Build, please check your grok logs. cat ~/.grok/logs/unified.json | grep repo_state.upload you will be pissed.

@samgoodwin89 With Nocturnal all of your sessions are saved in easy to read and archive .jsonl files on your own computer. Claude Code's sessions are jsonl files too, but they might prune the old ones, not sure.

I have produced a ton of data for Claude and Cursor. Looking back, I wish i build a proxy to intercept each request and store my own data. Probably 100s of millions, maybe billions of tokens specific to my domain.

Grok 4.5 even ranks slightly above Fable, which is an incredibly good model, on some software benchmarks!

GPT 5.6 Sol getting its work reviewed automatically by Minimax M3 (which did find issues in Sol's work). This kind of arrangement works very well and has been used in Nocturnal's development since its inception, months before anyone was talking about Mixture of Agents, Fusion models, etc.

@DavidOndrej1 If you like Pi, you should give Nocturnal a try. It manages to be more batteries-included while also being faster and lighter.
