My mum died unexpectedly yesterday evening. When she went into hospital a week ago with breathing problems, we were relieved to find out that it wasn’t covid-related. And her health appeared to be improving. I haven’t seen mum for so many months. I can’t believe she’s gone

@EssexBarrister I feel you. I witnessed a burglary near the court once. Looked the thief in the eye so had a good description. Told Police I had been in court that morning. His response “Oh”. Just said it all. Didn’t occur to him that I was a lawyer. My sharp attire was of no assistance 😔

Today I was assumed to be a defendant 3 times and a journalist once (lol). There MUST be something about my face that says “not a barrister” because I am literally wearing a black suit like everyone else. I don’t get it. Today it actually upset me a bit but... we move x

@DominicRaab To be clear: asked about 'taking the knee', Dominic Raab actually said: "It feels to me like it's a symbol of subjugation and subordination, rather than liberation and emancipation... I'd take the knee for two people: the Queen and the Mrs when I asked to marry her."

To be clear: I have full respect for the Black Lives Matter movement, and the issues driving them. If people wish to take a knee, that’s their choice and I respect it. We all need to come together to tackle any discrimination and social injustice.
