@neilgrupp Hi Neil, no direct experience. The fact that it uses a chest strap is positive, but to determine accuracy, you really want to know how it filters the information coming from the strap. For that, you need to be able to export/see the raw RR interval data.

Honestly, I do not. Small artifacts lead to big errors in HRV calcs. Personally, if I can't see/download the raw RR intervals, I take that to mean that the device would be embarrassed to give me access to that info & I don't trust that device.
Steven O@SJOesq

@Alan_Couzens In your opinion, do you think that general wearables like the Apple Watch give reliable HRV data? The score always seems like a much lower number than other devices.

@Alan_Couzens Hi, Alan, thanks for your usefull insights! Which app and what protocol would you suggest to use for HRV tracking? I recon you have been asked this multiple times, but can’t seem to find the answer

My latest... "Taking your understanding of HRV to the next level" I cover how we should move beyond looking at HRV as a single number & instead as a measure of.... recovery <---> work ANS balance. I also talk about how we can use a simple HR test to assess our readiness.

@Alan_Couzens @followthemotive Hi Alan, aerobic capacity (VO2 max) is 46.2 mL/kg/min. Is that good for my age I’m 43yrs old and want to improve it , will take another test at the end of the year , thank you

@followthemotive Thanks FTM, I think a VO2max of ~50ml/kg/min is a good number for somebody who is "fit". This *was* typical untrained young person fitness back in the day. I see maintaining that level for as long as possible as a worthy goal.

I guess my central thesis, if I had to sum it up... No one over the age of 40 will get fit on 150min/wk, irrespective of the intensity. Almost everyone over the age of 40 will get very fit on 150min/day, irrespective of the intensity.

You can be ambitious AF and healthy. I have the best health markers in the world, while being the founder/CEO of four companies. The world is manic; choose morticide. You can do this. I believe in you. Here are my updated biomarkers, added: + #1 global ranking in speed of aging: 0.48 + new best VO2max: 64.29, top 1% of 18 yr olds + Telomerase Activity 7.7% (equal to age 12) These markers represent my best scores from the past 24 months. Markers fluctuate test to test based upon testing variance, travel, therapies, and other factors.

Feeling nervous doesn't mean you're unprepared. It means you care about something beyond your control. Anxiety is a caricature artist. It magnifies flaws and minimizes strengths. Gaining confidence is not about denying what could go wrong. It’s about recognizing what might go right.
