#Rwanda has been recognized by @WorldBankGroup as a top performer on the Human Capital Index+ (HCI+), reflecting strong progress in health, education, and employment outcomes.
What does that mean? A child born today in Rwanda can expect better health, quality education, and real employment opportunities.

Every September, the world comes together to mark #SuicidePreventionMonth. It's a time to raise awareness, break the stigma, and remind one another that hope and help are always within reach.
Understanding suicide is an important first step, but awareness alone is not enough. We must also learn how to recognize the warning signs so that we can support those around us who may be struggling in silence.
Suicide is rarely a sudden decision. For many, it follows a period of inner turmoil where subtle signals may be expressed through words, behaviors, or changes in daily habits. By learning to notice these signs, we equip ourselves with the power to intervene early and show compassion when it’s needed most.
✳️Emotional and Verbal Signs.
A person who is considering suicide may express deep feelings of hopelessness, loneliness, or worthlessness. They may say things like “I don’t see a way out,” or “Everyone would be better off without me.”Sometimes these statements come disguised as jokes, but they can be genuine cries for help.
✳️Behavioral Changes.
Pay attention to sudden shifts in behavior. Someone who once enjoyed spending time with friends might withdraw from social circles. They may give away personal belongings, engage in reckless activities, or neglect responsibilities at school or work. These changes, though subtle at times, can signal a deeper struggle.
✳️Daily Life and Physical Cues
Suicidal thoughts can also manifest in daily habits. Disturbed sleep patterns, changes in appetite, or a noticeable decline in personal care may all be indicators that something is wrong. While each of these on their own may not mean much, taken together, they can paint a concerning picture.
✳️Recognizing these signs is only the beginning!
When we see them, we must respond with care, courage, and compassion. Starting a simple, open conversation can be life-changing: “I’ve noticed you’re not yourself lately—do you want to talk about it?” Listening without judgment and encouraging professional help can offer a vital lifeline.
✳️Suicide is preventable!
By educating ourselves, creating safe spaces for open conversations, and extending compassion to those in pain, we can change the narrative from silence to hope. Each of us has the power to be a source of light in someone’s darkest moment.
💛 If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to a trusted professional or contact a crisis hotline.

Today, we opened our doors to future leaders from #plpacademy2025, organized by @plpyouth, for a powerful exchange on #Rwanda’s governance and vision with MPs. More than learning, these conversations spark ideas, inspire responsibility, and empower young Rwandans to see themselves as drivers of our nation’s future.

Let’s Talk Men’s Mental Health!
Many of us hit the gym to build muscle, but when was the last time you trained your mind?
In a world that still tells men to “man up” and stay silent, it’s time we rewrite that script. Real strength isn’t about hiding your emotions; it’s about self-awareness, seeking support, and showing up fully.
✅ Talk it out with a friend, a mentor, or a counselor. Bottling up emotions doesn’t make you stronger. It builds pressure. Speaking up brings clarity, connection, and healing.
✅ Move your body; physical activity isn’t just for gains; it boosts mental clarity, reduces stress, and helps you sleep better.
✅ Rest and recharge – your peace of mind is as essential as your performance. Protect it.
Ask yourself:
Am I always angry or overwhelmed?
Am I sleeping poorly?
Am I withdrawing from people?
Am I just “pushing through” without pause?
If any of these ring true, it might be time to prioritize your mental fitness.
Let’s normalize mental strength the same way we celebrate physical gains. Because strong minds build healthy lives.

Too often, mental health is seen as something distant, shameful, or only relevant during a crisis. But the truth is: mental health is something we all have, and it plays a vital role in how we live, learn, work, and connect with others.

Here are the key messages from President Kagame @CNN interview, before they were edited to fit the predictable editorial line:
◦FDLR are associated and supported by governments in the region. Their aim is not only to fight M23, who are Congolese, but to fight Rwanda and overthrow the government, as they have said publicly. Does anyone think Rwanda will sit back and wait for that to happen? Rwanda will fight back in whatever form, there is no question about it.
◦I subscribe to the idea of respecting sovereignty of countries. That means the sovereignty of Rwanda must also be respected. There is no sovereignty of any country that is more important than the sovereignty of another. That's the standard principle.
◦The same international community blaming Rwanda is the one that has left FDLR in Congo for 30 years. Two and a half decades and close to $40 billion later, what stability is there? Putting the blame on Rwanda is the easiest way of covering up the mess they have been involved with and caused in our region.
◦The problem is simple to understand. People make it sound complex to avoid doing anything about it. Even the most unintelligent people would understand a problem after 30 years.
◦I don't think anybody is interested in war. I don’t even think Tshisekedi is interested in war himself, but he has been encouraged in that direction by people showing up to fight his wars for him. If they were not doing that, maybe he would see reason in the truth and prioritize the efforts to have peace.
◦I am talking about protecting myself, aware of the dangers that are there. I am managing national affairs and situations to obtain peace, and Tshisekedi is talking about humiliation which has to do with his ego. You can't run a country and cause problems in the region just because of ego.
◦The most important thing for Rwanda is that we have to protect ourselves. In our minds, we understand that nobody is going to be there for us. We saw it in 1994. That has resulted into making investments in security, in defense, and the rest will speak for itself.
