@piersmorgan The purposeful erosion of the meaning of words is the initial volley in the war against truth & reality. If you ignore these as innocuous you’ve already lost by the time you get to the threats against women’s safety and fairness. You’ve already ceded all the important ground.

@RComunistul @Rothmus Except for the 10’s of millions they killed outright, right? And no way this stat is correct. It produces poverty, and often starvation for almost everyone (except the party elite).

@Rothmus Except Marxist regimes presided over the LARGEST INCREASE IN LIFE EXPECTANCY anywhere on Earth, any time in history. How do you account for this.

@PalenSimona @RedWavePress Yes. Income tax is, and has been, for its entire existence, an abomination. Thanks for reminding me, even though these two jackholes weren’t even talking about that, they were talking about a “wealth” tax.

Kevin O’Leary absolutely TORCHES California’s proposed wealth tax: Graham Stephan: “[Jack] believes that it might be a good thing.” Kevin O’Leary: “Jack you’re going to hell for saying that.” Jack Selby: “There’s an argument to be made.” Kevin O’Leary: “No, there isn’t. It’s un-American. It will destroy the fabric of the economy. Punishing wealth and success —” “We’re going to steal your wealth just because we feel that a 10% wealth tax is appropriate.” Graham Stephan: “It’s not really stealing. It’s redistributing.” Kevin O’Leary: “You’re going to go to hell too. Both of you are going to hell. I feel sorry.” “I’ve heard that word before in Cuba, in North Korea, in Russia. They’re all sh*tholes now. How about Venezuela?... It’s a sh*thole.” Credit: YT/TheIcedCoffeeHour

Democrats want to defund law enforcement. But don't take my word for it, hear it directly from them. It's tough to negotiate a DHS funding agreement when radical Democrats want to dismantle and abolish the very agencies within it.

The idea that a non-monastic Roman citizen just opted to never have sex with his pretty wife for 40 years, and all the people who are explicitly called Jesus' brothers were his distant cousins, is a fascinating example of dogma - a thing believed because one is supposed to believe it.

@Noah_Collins02 @wil_da_beast630 Sorry you can’t admit that the church has made some pretty big mistakes & is anything but infallible. (Spanish Inquisition, Burning “heretics” at the stake. Galileo’s prosecution, & the list goes on) I’m not trying to shake your faith, but blind trust in institutions is not wise

This is exactly the distinction I was making. They got indulgences for alms giving— in this case, they got an indulgence for donating to the church so they could build the Basilica. This is technically distinct from simony, but is essentially the same thing, which is why I it was banned.

@Noah_Collins02 @wil_da_beast630 “In the early 1500s, Pope Leo X authorized the sale of indulgences to raise funds for building St. Peter's Basilica and to pay off debts, leading to widespread abuse where it was portrayed as buying forgiveness.” Seems like it came straight from Peter’s Seat.

Selling indulgences was always against canon law. What was allowed were indulgences for alms giving, which were abused by corrupt clergy to sell indulgences. It was never dogmatically or definitively defined that indulgences can be tied to money, so reversing course on that and cracking down on corruption doesn’t contradict definitive or dogmatic teaching. The church can and does change teachings that are not dogmatic or definitive.

@Noah_Collins02 @wil_da_beast630 Yes, but the church used to sell them, and now that’s heretical. Seems like they had a pretty big error from the top that had to be corrected? I’m guessing it wouldn’t be hard to find more.

@Wes625883812652 @warmsundae @RealDonKeith @HoodedClaw1974 lol. I’ve never been fired. I’ve worked in IT for over 30 years and have quite well for myself, thanks. I am respected by many executive types for my knowledge but respect is a two way street. I wouldn’t take to well to anyone, including a lawyer in a robe, talking down to me.

@nemononicon @wil_da_beast630 I accept definitive teachings and dogma of the Catholic Church as truth revealed by God. This is a component of being Catholic. The church has never issued a dogma or definitive teaching and later contradicted that.
