Gavin Newsom’s state-run kids’ hearing aid “program” is a TOTAL DISASTER—$30 million in taxpayer cash, nearly $23 million already blown, just 300 kids enrolled at a staggering $76,000 PER CHILD, with only 39 actually getting aids in year one! While nearly 20,000 California children struggle to hear in school, Newsom vetoed private insurance mandates that 35 other states use—choosing wasteful bureaucracy over real help for families. PATHETIC leadership from the most INCOMPETENT governor in America!

so for the oil bears (and permabears over the past 4 years, even those who nailed the top in Ru/Ukr when the flat price was $130/bbl)... how exactly have you made money when factoring in the reality of rolling your position? Cuz this is what oil looks like on a five-year lookback (as a shortcut proxy for high-fee retail front month Brent with roll capture)... 1/2

@PauloMacro @agnostoxxx Or alternatively, it becomes a big Black Swan for real estate that eventually ripples across the US. Won’t be pretty.

Milton is like Kobe Jan1995. Except in 1H95 the Nikkei crashed for months, even took down Barings with Leeson. Now stocks may do the same initially (no bears, put/call crushed, etc), but they are gonna eventually rip so hard on the Milton rebuild. 1/4

@rickyhewitt_dev @ChShersh IO is much faster (network bandwidth, disk, etc.). Computers can do more work and put more in memory true. However, quality of code is so much more important and has been abandoned for time to market. There’s a great comparison of visual studio versions now and past.

I'd have to disagree on the idea they feel slower, that is probably perception. Granted that nowadays people are certainly neglecting optimization, but the overall speed has most certainly increased compared to the 90s and 00s. Back then: - Booting would take minutes. - Web browsers would take 5-15 seconds to even load, and another 5-20s per webpage. - Loading applications could take 20, 30, or 60+ seconds. Especially with larger applications. - HDDs would be thrashing the entire time, file listing and basic HDD operations could take a long time. - People would regularly use a variety of hacks and methods of reducing memory use and desperately trying to reduce HDD activity, etc... Nowadays things are very different. With my apple silicon machine for example, booting is lightning fast, applications load instantly, and of course no thrashing HDDs.

Computers have insanely better CPUs and much more RAM nowadays, yet they feel slower than 20 years ago. I used to think it happens because computers do more useful work. Turns out, better hardware is more forgiving to crappy coding practices.

I forgot that you can’t run polls about any Israel topic on X because the Israel bots are dominating. Just a reminder: When you see 90% pro Israel replies under the posts of Israel critics that’s the Israel bot army, similar to NAFO, the CIA run pro Ukraine bot army.

There are physiological benefits from both a moderate amount of vigorous exercise & an immoderate amount of moderate exercise. The cardiac risks come from moderate amount of moderate exercise & immoderate amount of vigorous exercise. The logN matches the distributions in nature.

I used to see NNT's tweets frequently. Now I have to go to his profile to watch them. He is being shadow banned because he methodically dismantles hasbara and hasbarists
Nassim Nicholas Taleb@nntaleb

A lot of Hasbaratists (see the thread) are using this logic as support for Israel, not seeing the contradiction: + Israelis need US & Western support BECAUSE they are weak (on their own). + Palestinians must not be supported BECAUSE they are weak.

Back in 2020 I had a trader friend of mine get the top in Jan/Feb (I was doing some work for them in #ES_F). Once covid episode started to get unruly & markets puked I was shocked at how they stayed with it. They even covered within 2% of the LOW in March. They made massive...like I mean the performance like that you shut down for the year. nope. They felt after the 1st bounce new lows would hit. It did not matter what I said (or anyone else said) to them they kept shorting as the market starting to rally. they gave it ALL back and then some, ended down on the year. I have NEVER seen a flame out like that and I always keep my notes from that period on how stupid one can get when a bias is so entrenched. They made massive & wanted more only to sabotage themselves. Was horrible to watch.
