@rogie The weird thing is; when Figma programatically adds a frame (as a child of a rotated frame) while adding auto-layout, it inherits the coordinate system of the parent. When you add something manually, it does not.

@rogie It looks like it inherents the rotation of the parent when you add an auto-layout. Yet the items themselves don't rotate.

Unexpected @figma behavior: After rotating my canvas 90º, new frames I create on top have their width/height flipped. CC: @miggi, @rogie

@JoshWComeau On firefox you can take a screenshot at a higher resolution than your display. Probably possible in Chrome too!

Hey @figma I use auto layout all the time. Here's my final wish for Config 👇 (Auto layout settings under preferences just like nudge amount.)

@Treggify It will always have value as an insight into that moment in time. However there are definitely cultural/paradigm shifts that can happen that will invalidate the outcome. There's this famous vid of interviews about mobile phones in 1998, nobody claimed to need one.

Does user research expire?

@hobdaydesign I felt the same thing, that we were imoroving to a local maximum for our clients. When I introduced Future Visions, explorations of what could be if we started over, I was surprised how often our clients wanted to implement it directly, instead of just using it as inspiration.

I think this echoes the situation in many organisations. A designer often knows the best thing to do would be start over in some way. But that's not practical. And that designer can still help make the current thing as good as it can be.

One thing I struggle with when I give feedback to clients is that I often only help them to improve the current concept they have. Sometimes that concept is not as good as it could be. I feel like I've cheated them if I haven't helped them to reach the best overall result.
