There's some precedence for Tesla tuning for track performance. Current Model 3P, brakes and cooling are still meh, but endurance mode masks some shortcomings. Chassis/motors are mostly up to the task, battery discharging performance is still somewhat weak, but pair the new Roadster with better cooling and ceramic brakes (like the plaid) then we are talking.

At a 200k+ price point, hopefully Tesla is willing to put money into some directions, such as cooling and brakes, where they typically have not spent as heavily even on their highest performance models.
Let's talk about brakes specifically. This would be a great goal: that none of the reviewers have any reason to compare it to other very fast cars and comment that its brakes are a bit short of the competition.

Do you think the new Tesla Roadster will be able to defeat the Corvette ZR1X?
The ZR1X is putting down 1,250 horsepower, 0 to 60 in under 2 seconds, and running an 8.67 second quarter mile. This thing is no joke.
For years the Model S Plaid was dominating the track. But with the Model S ending production, Tesla's answer to the competition will likely be the Roadster.
Tesla is going to need to bring everything they've got. This is going to be one of the greatest performance battles we've ever seen.
Who wins, Roadster or ZR1X?

@goymifrensur @WindowsCentral Nope! Have played about 5k worth of games (for a couple hundred) the last two years alone, a shit ton of those games that support Playanywhere syncing all my saves across my portable, laptop, desktop and Xbox console. Sorry steam ain't got nothing on that.

@Skate_a_book The attention monitoring has definitely gotten better and more lax, but today I experienced multiple "phantom braking" incidents. Hopefully it will get ironed out soon. Aside from that, the drive itself was fine, more assertive.

Just finished 50 miles on 2026.8.6 on HW3 and I cannot express enough how bad it is. The culvert = animal thing is way worse … it’s been constant at this spot for months despite reports every time, but today it braked HARD

The Cybercab has a cooling system WAY bigger than expected.

Even when not driving passengers, it will be running maximum useful compute. Data center architecture, applied to a car for the first time. 🤯

I take Waymo and just marvel at how much better it is the Tesla FSD. I wish my Tesla drove like a waymo but it doesn’t. No question we’ve hit a wall. What will it take for it to actually move from level 2 to 3-4? I want it to work but I think Tesla has to rethink the approach. $TSLA
