The theme for this year’s Labour Day celebration is “economic growth, political stability and job creation” and links directly to the policy priorities articulated in the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda. The Chief Guest, His Excellency the President, Dr William Samoei Ruto is committed to ensure that the welfare of the Kenyan workers is guaranteed. The Negotiation of bilateral labour agreements with 10 countries, in the Middle East , Europe, America and Asia is ongoing. Millions of job opportunities will be created even as the labour migration process is currently being streamlined. My Ministry has developed a draft wages and remuneration policy for consideration and adoption. The policy champions a fair, equitable and dynamic mechanism for determination and compensation of wages to all workers in the country.

Under the new plan, the minimum wages will also be guided by sustainability and productivity. Further, public and private sector wages will be rationalised to address disparities. He made the remarks on Monday at the Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi during the 58th Labour Day Celebration.
