Can someone tell me what I’m actually paying for? My latest council tax bill has arrived. £330 a month. For what? We still have to pay extra just to have the garden waste collected. The roads are knackered, the drains are blocked, and every time it rains the streets flood. The local town is now devoid of shops because business rates and parking charges have made it almost impossible to trade and expensive for people to visit. So where is the money going? Councils spend tax revenue on vanity projects like cycle lanes that might see a bike once a decade and disability parking bays that sit empty most of the time. Meanwhile the services we actually rely on continue to decline. We are expected to pay more and more for less and less. And at the same time we all see public money being spent on people who entered this country illegally and have never contributed. So I’ll ask again. What exactly are we paying for? The whole system is broken.

Between Starfleet Academy and Strange New Worlds, I believe every single one of these rules has been violated. Which means we must conclude one thing: these shows are NOT Star Trek.

"Wuthering Heights" is wildly more enjoyable than the book, just like Baz Luhrmann's Romeo+Juliet was wildly more enjoyable than the raw play. Great stuff.

My mum broke hip in Australia. Operation in 12 hours. Home in a week. 3 Hospital at Home staff - doctor, nurse, physio on Day 1. If she’d been in Wales: 17 hour wait for ambulance, months for hip. Countries with insurance-based systems work much better than shockingly bad NHS!

I don't usually talk about my personal life here on X but over the past few days, I've been going through a crisis. For starters, since I'm one of the only people that has watched the first 2 episodes of Star Trek Starfleet Academy, most other people can't truly understand how much I've suffered. Even worse, I consider myself at least a somewhat professional reviewer of movies and shows but every time I sit down to work on my Starfleet Academy reviews, I suddenly become depressed and end up doing something else (today I ended up watching football instead). At this point, I don't even know if it's worth it to complete my Starfleet Academy reviews, especially when I don't think anybody will watch them but I've already invested time and energy on them so I'm not sure what to do. Sorry for dumping all my troubles on the world but maybe somebody could give me some good advice.

@jondelarroz I think the issue is you've aged out of Star Trek. Like Doctor Who, it was always aimed at a teen/young adult audience. It's not aimed at middle aged men who enjoyed TNG as kids.
