If your startup feels illegal it's actually a good sign IMO. Some examples: - Uber / Lyft felt illegal (regular people use their regular cars as taxis). - OpenAI felt illegal (scraping the web). - Coinbase felt illegal (crypto).

@levelsio @home_assistant I’m using ubiquity. Network, camera, doors, sensors, relay + alarm. It’s all in there and work flawlessly. It gets expensive but the ecosystem and UI/UX is second to none.

So @home_assistant solves this Open source app with a device they sell that ties into all brands shitty IOT software to unshittify it
Samuel Karl Archer@SamuelkArcher

@levelsio I don’t understand why this is not solved I would like to personally control everything using homekit. No contract with any hardware providers. Same thing with security cameras

@nirgn975 I did exactly this a while ago. Try Scribble Spot! Exact same reasoning as you mention. scribble-spot.com iOS and Android apps built with #flutter Was sorting out some app store issues so sorry for the late reply had it bookmarked!

Why are all the simple kids apps on the iPad are subscription based?! You're a drawing app with like 100 options, don't push it. I would pay a one time payment to unlock all, but I'm not doing a subscription.

People are ditching their streaming services and going back to DVDs after recent price hikes from streaming providers - good idea?

The Cloudflare FREE tier is also absurd Workers - 100k req/day Durable Objects - 100k req/day Containers - 25 GiB hrs, 1 TB egress Browser Rendering - 10 min/day Workflows - 100k runs/day no credit card required the $5 plan is there the moment you outgrow this
Fayaz Ahmed@fayazara

The Cloudflare $5/mo plan is honestly absurd Workers - 10M requests D1 - 25B reads, 50M writes KV - 10M reads, 1M writes R2 - 10 GB storage, zero egress Email - $0.35 for 1000 emails Browser - 10 hours per month You also get Durable Objects, Queues, Workflows - included, Unlimited Hyperdrive queries, Vectors.

Today we're rolling out a new History tab on iOS to help you keep track of all your favorite content on X. Bookmarks, Long Videos, Articles and Likes will live here -- so you can always come back and continue watching or reading. The Timeline moves fast, so we hope this creates a better place for catching up on long-form content.

@nikitabier Yep, captions are the only thing that make me watch a video. I always start on mute and read the caption and if it’s interesting I turn the volume up.

Pro-tip to video creators: Add captions to your videos. Most people scroll Timeline with volume off. It will increase engagement on your content by 5x. We’ll be adding this natively to our video uploader soon.

✉️ Trying @Cloudflare's new Email Sending feature today If you send 1,000,000 emails per month: - Postmark: $1,206/mo - Resend: $650/mo - SendGrid: $600/mo - Cloudflare: $354/mo - Amazon SES: $100/mo So Postmark is now by far the most expensive email provider And SES and Cloudflare are now the cheapest email providers I know my friend @marckohlbrugge is trying out SES now so I'll try Cloudflare and see how it is, SES is cheaper but Marc said it takes a bit more managing, and since I already use so much Cloudflare stuff it's nice to use them for email too With AI especially all of these are just as easy to use and setup in your app/site so economically it makes sense to go for the cheapest, because email is just email, it's all the same and deliverability is good with all of these I think TL;DR email sending has become a commodity!

The only 2 places where I felt ambition like this are the US and China Nomad hubs like Bali and Thailand are nice but often people there get stuck coasting at $5K MRR because it's just cheaper to live there, so that puts kind of a natural limit on ambition, very quickly you already make "enough" SF/NYC are so ridiculously expensive to live, so you HAVE to make a lot of money, and the high cost of living is a natural filter that keeps only broke but super ambitious or already successful people (and of course nepo babies esp NYC) China is not so much expensive to live, but there's some natural cultural ambition to become #1 in everything that's very infectious
Dominik Sobe ツ@sobedominik

I think 🇺🇸 SF changed me (?) I know this sounds cheesy AF and it is, haha! The past two weeks here were absolutely incredible. Very thankful for all the new friendships. I thought I share some thoughts with ya'll.
