A fresh trough is expected to push into Bay of Bengal and move towards parts of coastal #Tamilnadu around Dec 9/10th. More favourable for parts of Delta & south TN at this point as strong HPA is leading to dry continental easterly flow over north #Tamilnadu belt. Chennai Weatherman – Ex Cyclone Ditwah Update (02st Dec Morning) After a brief respite, some more intense clouds are forming off the Chennai Coast in 50kms range fresh curved band is now pushing in, so heavy rains may start again in the upcoming hours. Office goers should plan accordingly. Low-level circulation centre (LLCC) of Ex Ditwah is sitting very close to the Chennai coast and effectively acting like a “heart” that keeps pumping rain bands inside. Bands are wrapping anticlockwise, repeatedly feeding heavy rains into our City. But by tonight, it will get completely weakened and will be pushed inland by low-level winds. So until then we have chances of heavy to very heavy rains happening. Once it moves inland, many places in the Interior districts will get rains tomorrow before the system finally dies away. North Chennai and a few parts of the City were hammered with extremely heavy rains. Hope the disappointed people here are now happy with the rains from Ditwah. Ensembles mean run continues to indicate good rains happening over north #Tamilnadu followed by coastal places of south #Andhra. There is not any signs of intensification and it could potentially cross coast as a D/DD around 12N latitude & have a more northerly track thereon. KTCC chance to see good rains is possible with this track. There is no point in asking quantum in these scenarios as we would need to see how it behaves in real-time & its structure in radar as well. KTCC (Chennai Rain update) - Bright sunshine now, but finally some spells are on the way for Chennai ----------------------- Rains happening north of chennai and south of Chennai and atlast decent popups have circled Chennai, today is the best hope for us for atleast 20-40 mm spells, as action shifts to South Tamil Nadu from low pressure from tonight. Overnight, some moderate rains happened in chennai. Rains have battered Delta (Mayil, Nagai and Tiruvarur) yesterday night too. Low will move into Arabian sea - Very heavy rains for South TN ---------------- Today - tomorrow: As the low moves further west, the interior districts will get rains too as moisture is pushed inside. While South TN districts of Thoothukudi, Thenkasi, Virudhungar, Theni, Kanyakumari and Nellai will be in the zone of heavy rains. Watchout for Manjolai hills, they rock in this pattern. Chakkaram ----------- Once the present low pressure over Comorin sea moves into Arabian sea, then our Chakkaram will try to form in SW bay of Benga after 5 days. More on that later.
