If tomorrow in Bengal the TMC wins, Hindus will be attacked; if the BJP wins, Hindus will be divided along caste lines.
If in Tamil Nadu the DMK wins, the ongoing disrespect toward Sanatan will continue; if the NDA wins, Modi might end up honoring Periyar with the Bharat Ratna.
If in Assam the Congress alliance wins, it will be seen as Muslim dominance; if the BJP wins, they will just raise slogans about expelling Bangladeshis in the next election, because nothing will be done this time either.

Yet another hot day ahead for the plains of Tamil Nadu. If one observes the Extreme Heat Stress duration plot we can clearly see the Eastward shift with more places in the plains of Tamil Nadu now likely to see upto 6 hours of Extreme Heat Stress (>46°C UTCI). Interiors will continue to see afternoon / evening thunderstorms at many places like yesterday. Places along both Eastern and Western Ghats could benefit from the orographic lift provided by the mountains. No such luck for Chennai which has on Trisulam and Parangimalai in our vicinity.😀

Since 2014: 173,000 hectares forest land diverted for mining/roads/dams/infra; mining boom in dense forests (Hasdeo Arand, Aravallis, Northeast - annual loss tripled); 29,000+ illegal mining cases in Aravallis alone.. massive agri land converted to real estate (non-agri use up 8+ million ha, net sown area down 1.8M ha); unplanned urban sprawl + highways/industrial corridors in eco-zones + diluted EIA 2020 & Forest Conservation Amendment 2023 = destroyed green cover & natural cooling. Result? Deadlier urban heat islands & heat waves. That’s why.

Green cover and ecology-friendly urban planning was never a core part of building Indian cities. Post aggressive corporate takeover in recent years, policymaking constantly mocked or jailed climate activists, green champions and citizens who warned on it. Now, with this killer heat in 2026, the chicken have finally come home to roost. Our cities are turning unlivable. For everyone, rich or poor.
As if the dirt, garbage, traffic chaos, home prices and pollution wasn't enough.
There is nothing to suggest things will change in coming years. Nothing at all. Actually, forests and green cover are being eliminated rapidly everywhere for real estate sharks.
