Ozone Action Days Declared for May 18th & 19th 2026 Air Quality Action Days for Ozone have been declared for Monday, May 18th and Tuesday, May 19th. Sensitive individuals, including the very young, the elderly, and persons with respiratory diseases such as asthma, should avoid strenuous activities during the afternoon and early evening hours. Hot temperatures, sunny skies, and light south/southwesterly winds are forecast for Monday as the region remains under the influence of high pressure. These conditions will allow ozone to reach the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (USG) category in areas along the I-95 corridor and northern regions. Levels of fine particulates will remain in the moderate category statewide. Continued hot temperatures, sunny skies, and light southwesterly winds are forecast for Tuesday as high pressure remains over the forecast area. These conditions will allow ozone to reach the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (USG) category in central and southern regions of New Jersey. Levels of fine particulates will remain in the moderate category statewide. For more information, please go to AIRNOW.GOV or DEP.NJ.GOV/AIRQUALITY.
