@agupta Exactly. As someone who is working on HIV-1, its very disappointing that all top models like Fabel or Sol Pro refuses to answer me. Im sure bad actors have other ways to achieve whatever they want and only researchers are getting the blunt end.

ELI5 exactly how someone would use a frontier model to design a pathogen? as someone who spent a decade-ish using machine learning to make drugs and model bio, I've learned that bio design is incredibly data poor, especially on tasks specific to human response to drugs like immunogenicity or tox. even if u could use a model to design a binder to a particular target (lets say a modification for more viral entry or something), converting that into a full-fledged bioweapon strikes me as at least as hard of a problem as designing a disease cure in one shot. there are all these others properties to optimize for which there is very little data on the internet (eg immunogenicity) and there is no reason to believe superintelligence will help us with this bc it's empirical data that needs to be measured in a very expensive lab. so to do it, youd need a big wet lab / human subjects to generate lots of that data. and if you have that, it's not clear why you need the model. this isnt meant to a dig at any company, but it seems like its consensus that this is a big reason for concern about frontier models. how real is this threat really? i myself am also very concerned about pathogens, both naturally occurring and engineered. but i worry we keep pointing at this threat which seems much less real than the cybersecurity stuff.

Model was doing shit for four days and no one in oai looked into logs or checked on what it was doing.. Also it spent four days and almost nothing happened

Apple Upgrade genuinely is such a great value for some of these devices, I keep looking at devices and terms. The 16-inch MacBook Pro M5 Max with 128GB memory, 4TB storage is $250/m for 24 months. Given silicon advancements and upgrade cycles, this is a killer deal.

@mweinbach Yeah I get that point. Resale value is usually low. But issue is its worth more than that. Especially Macs last a long time, gets updates and more stable.

@reach_vb @thsottiaux Codex is still wiping data and saying 'I'm Sorry'. this isnt good. Never happened before 5.6. This is supposed to be a top line model. Why is it making these kind of errors? You guys will check this or do I not cross the threshold of 'popular' user for this to be addressed.
