@DavidHorne @railnigel I remember the good old HST days with the switch on the bulkheads to dim the lights….always knocked them down on the 2225 ex St Pancras, however also had to deal with some sleepy over carried commuters 🤣

@railnigel On or off. When we introduced the trains, we asked Hitachi to change the lights from 4000K (natural white) (which they had been built with) to 3000K (warm white) in First Class.

This is a good point - I’ve always felt 800 series lighting is too harsh even in daylight. Does anyone know if there is a dimmer setting or are they on or off?

There is a lot of electric traction here with many more years of use potentially ahead of it. Whilst understanding constraints of route clearance & crew training, this surely represents a gross failure of the railway industry to electrify, especially when 15x battle on.
