We could metaphorically say that in the era of the “digital triumph,” political action that is truly oriented to the common good requires a return to the “analogue.” Perhaps this is the real antidote to a politics that often shouts, consists only of slogans and is incapable of responding to people’s actual needs.

I am typically wary of one-size-fits-all solutions, but changing congressional elections to proportional representation would be a genuine difference maker for our democratic republic.

The is just flat, base blasphemy. Calling evil good. Violence peace. Anti-Christ. God have mercy on us for we shall surely have His judgement.

The evil done by this administration—from its lawless rampage in Minnesota, to deporting persecuted people back to totalitarian states, to taking food and medicine from starving children, often while blaspheming the name of Christ—is staggering. May justice roll like a river.

At nearly every crisis point over the last year - and there have been so so many 🫠 - totally ordinary people have been exponentially braver than the billionaires and elite. Turns out, you can’t buy courage!

The combination of corruption, cruelty, narcissism, and incompetence is truly staggering, and somehow we are all too distracted by shiny toys and short form videos. Lord have mercy.

Charismatic presence is not the same as leadership. The privilege of leading others is earned through emotional labor. While commanding attention might get you brief renown, the real, lasting work is found in showing up for others. Being present to their pain & their joy.

Violence begets violence. Revenge begets revenge. It’s an escalating spiral leading to death and destruction of all involved. There are no “winners”. All of us lose. But there is another way. A better way. A way that turns “them” into “us” and turns enemies into neighbors.
