@AndyBurnhamGM It's the cost, Andy. I live in Cheshire and can be in Euston in 90 minutes, but at £105 a go (off-peak!) it's just prohibitive.

I am glad common sense has prevailed BUT the UK’s fastest-growing city-region should not be in the position of having to beg and plead for basic rail connectivity. A plan to improve Manchester-London services in the short, medium and long terms is now well overdue.

If future cash ISAs annual limits are to be cut as is being suggested to 'help encourage young people to invest' (I'm dubious that'll work), at the very least there should be a carve out for older savers whom aren't the target.

@thEnd0fTheStorm Higher risk is the price you pay for higher reward. Invest for the long term. Nobody has ever had a negative return when investing for over 20 years. This stuff is easy to research, it is well understood. Enjoy having your cash ISA eroded by inflation.

Yes. I've said publically (even when giving evidence at a select committee) that I worry I've had an impact not deliberately but because people read across that as I dont talk about investing I think its bad. I dont, its just not my expertise and regulation doesnt allow me to talk about it. I have actually been very plain for a number of years now whenever I talk savings to make this point. And in the last year or so been even stronger pushing people to consider investing if they are putting money aside for a longer period. I also believe the govt needs to change the rules on investment guidancve to allow people to speak mroe freely and that is on the cards. Hopefully when that happens I can be a bit stronger.

@MartinSLewis We both know that investing is NOT gambling, but any time you talk about it, your replies are full of people uninformed and saying so. There are so many good commentators on youtube and beyond providing such valuable insight, but your reach is so much higher

@MartinSLewis Martin, do you have a part to play in this? From my experience you've not talked about investing as much as saving. I do worry that we've missed out on some years of education because of too much focus on cash and saving rather than investing

Looking back, it was a lot easier to focus without all the distractions and all the fake info. When you have just one book about Turbo Pascal in your entire city, you better sit your butt down and get to work. I cannot imagine how kids must feel having to learn anything nowadays.
