Around 2015, there was this huge spike of kids coming out as transgender in Davis, CA. Often these trans kids were from lesbian, two-mom households. “Anna’s mother loved dressing her daughter up in pretty outfits. But around the age of 3, Anna* started refusing: no pink, no sparkles, no glitter. She wanted to be a boy. She hasn’t worn a skirt or dress since. Now a sixth-grader at Chávez Elementary School, Anna dresses like a boy, wears her hair like a boy, has mostly boy friends and her interests, her mother says, are traditionally those of boys.”

“I have a trans child so you can get out of my face.” Yesterday I got to talk to a lesbian mom of a non-binary child about her views: - her child knew at 6 they were neither a boy nor a girl - breast binders are safer than duct tape - double mastectomies are not offered to minors - some lesbians have p*nises - cutting out grandparents is often necessary - people can be trans-gender but not trans-racial - and more! We had two hours to kill while waiting to enter the joint oversight hearing titled “Access to Gender Affirming Care in California” convened by the Senate and Assembly budget subcommittees on health. 2/3

The evidence base for medical transition sits somewhere between homeopathy and lobotomy. I’ve been writing this piece in my mind ever since 2017 as I became aghast at the shoddy, badly designed studies propping up these irreversible interventions. I studied for a masters and then a PhD to make sure I fully understood the issue. I have never seen CA state senator Scott Wiener visibly react to a survivor's testimony like this. Wiener doesn't care about young female survivors, but this courageous young man seems to have gotten to him, at least a little. Well done @JonniSkinner.

Another day, another call from a family being investigated by CPS agency in Oregon because they won’t say that their daughter is transgender, won’t agree that she is a boy, won’t transition her. She is 15. She is mentally unwell. Her school is the one reporting the parents. CPS is calling the mom’s employer which will guarantee that mom will lose her job. She is the main breadwinner of the family. Dad’s business is not doing well. They are legal immigrants with small means. They are easy pickings. This is queer theory. This house is near a nice elementary school in my area. In 1974, on a $12k teacher's salary, this home could easily be purchased for $18,700. In 2026, teachers make $55k. They can't afford a $485k house. Why don't boomers understand how bad it is out there?!

The Adolescent and Young Adult Gender Dysphoria Outcomes Study (AYAGDOS) is still open and seeking volunteers for a research study about youth with gender dysphoria. Both gender dysphoric youth (13-25 years of age) and parents of gender dysphoric youth of those ages are eligible. So they needlessly amputated this teenage boy's penis, before he'd even had a single sexual encounter. Then they made a patchwork quilt out of the harvested penile tissue, a section of his peritoneum lining, and a piece of his thigh skin and used that to line the cavity that they called a vagina. They had to make this ghoulish quilt because his doctors — in the total absence of credible science — had blocked his puberty so his penis didn't develop, meaning there wasn't enough penile tissue for the standard penile inversion vaginoplasty. And the reason they blocked his puberty is because he liked ballet, princess gowns, and a sparkly bathing suit when he was a child and so his mother told him he was a girl. Then, the day after his surgery, the patchwork quilt burst open and he had to be rushed back to the hospital, in agony, for a major revision. All this was caught on camera and watched by millions. Yet there wasn't rioting in the streets. Instead, this show played a major role in triggering the social contagion of kids seeking this deeply unethical medical pathway — and people started marching in the streets demanding that they receive it. This era will be studied in horror for centuries to come.
