This is a particularly important consideration when we remind ourselves that only around 17% of people worldwide live in high-income countries. Here's the distribution of econ research on taxation by country income group. Probably not so different in other econ subfields.

Middle class Nigerians in Kebbi, Katsina, Zamfara, across the Northeast, Northwest and Northcentral who are able to afford it will begin to migrate south. Perhaps that migration is already ongoing but I’d like to see a study backing this CC: @sbmintelligence . You can’t retire to spaces you arent guaranteed safety

Many countries are trapped in cycles of unresolved debt crises & held back by an unfair system of vast debt repayments that drain public resources & undermine long-term investment. The Borrowers Platform – a new mechanism supported by the @UN – is a breakthrough in global financing – bringing borrowing countries together learn from each other & speak with a collective voice. un.org/sg/en/content/…

People of African descent face discrimination, exclusion, and dehumanization – every single day. This must end. We need to take concrete, meaningful steps to dismantle systemic racism and address the damaging legacies of colonialism and enslavement. ohchr.org/en/statements-…

In my column in today's @THISDAYLIVE, I commend President Tinubu for starting the process of curing some of the defects of the PIA (Nigeria's landmark petroleum law) and urge him to stay the course and go even farther. 👇🏽 thisdaylive.com/2026/02/22/the…

@DoubleEph Ultimately we will end up at the taxing-to fund-public-services outcome eventually. If we develop the capacity to deliver the public services. But which comes first? Chicken or egg? So many unanswered questions.

This Economist piece on the world being on the verge of a geothermal energy breakthrough has simply intensified my hatred of the "solar revolution" going on in poor countries. Rant 🧵

Oh. We still haven't learned that we can't "import substitute" an industrial sector into existence? Ok. Well done to all involved.
